I could always get hubby to take a picture of me counting my millions (I wish!) with a candle stub (if someone will buy me one!!)

Foggy I love your idea! I make paper marche stuff with the kids all the time but never thought of making some sort of sealed up money box. Currently using a large screw top jar which I've used for saving coins for donkey's ears. Don't seem to do so well with it these days though. [:D]
You do not need a way around saving from an IVA, this is perfectly acceptable to save from any allowance you want and any share of overtime etc., are yours to keep, never be encouraged to go against the terms of your IVA it will only end in failure.
I manage to save from allowances, I genuinely complete my I&E and then it's up to me if I can manage on a lesser amount, I'm the only one suffering, my creditors are still getting their fair share of my disposable income. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
6 yrs done , never once had any small amount saved, 2 old cars , that have cost a flippin fortune but we need them for work. i still go shopping in my mums freezer and cupboards. dont think i will ever have spare cash. my car bill oct 410.10 failed mot
Same as many on here, never been able to build a contingency and typically run out of money completely with a week to go to payday so have to lock myself away for a week.
Luckily no car or kids cuts down on the 'unexpected'
I'm glad some of you managed the whole 5/6 years without building up a contingency. I was beginning to worry that it was not possible and we would hit a huge problem and the IVA will fail. None of our family or friends know that we are in an IVA and pride will definitely stop me from asking for help.
One thing that I have found is that I feel comfortable saying to friends 'no, sorry we can't come/do that, we can't afford at the minute'. I know we have no option now, previously it would be stick it on the card and think about it later. It feels better just to say no. I'm finding friends are happy to think of things that are cheaper, and when they come around for a meal or a drink - I always say 'can you bring.....'
Oscar those tins are in Poundland for the smaller ones but my Mum in Manchester got me two huge ones for £1.50 each but not sure which shop she got them from. I save all my loose change and it does soon mount up. I'll be opening mine for my holiday in Jan! x

Talking of those tins has made me ask are we taking a secret santa to the Northampton FF?? I took one the year I went and put a penny in it as my secret santa! x

No, no Secret Santa this year. Mel just wanted a normal get together.
