Hi and welcome. You should be able to open a basic bank account with a bank such as the Co-op long as they aren't a creditor.

If you cannot get one anywhere then as a last resort you could consider something like Secure Trust or Thinkbanking although both of these incur a monthly charge

You are guaranteed an account with them.

Jan is right you should be able to get a basic bank account. The only reasons they can refuse them is if they suspect fraud and you have a CIFAS marker on your file.
We're willing to wipe the slate clean, give you a fresh start. All that we're asking in return is your cooperation.

Try Nationwide Flex Account. Had mine for over 5 years now with no issues.

You will need to be on the electoral roll as well or be prepared to provide proof of identity and address.

Natwest Step Account I've got, hopefully one of our suggestions should help and as long as the basic account isn't connected to your bank account it should be ok, HSBC and First Direct I believe are not too IVA friendly. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Which ones have you tried, Christina ? And make sure you emphasise that you want their BASIC account. Co-Op rarely refuse their Cashminder account because of an IVA, the usual stumbling blocks are I.D issues.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

Try halifax, Co-Op and Nationwide - they were all sympathetic to us in our IVA and allowed us to open basic accounts with them.

I'm with Yorkshire bank - need to prove identity only & electoral roll. If you go into any bank branch or online you need to attempt to open a basic account. I suspect you have being trying to open a 'normal bank account' which ain't going to happen unfortunately as your IVA will show up.
The road is 72months long starting September 2010.
