Say no more Kallis, I read that thread you posted to Mike and you did say...you knew people on IVA working in the Police that was dismissed. Even though Mike had said otherwise in his client cases.

I guess I understand your predicament.Let sleeping dogs lie.

The matter is closed ..sorry I raised it.

Hi - I am so sorry I couldn't reply to this post in time, sometimes the day job gets in the way.

I emailed the OP, but I think it was too late to be of any help.

I'm glad to read there was a good ending to what must have been a very worrying time.

If anyone does find themselves in a similar position, please make sure you have a detailed letter of the allegation and a copy of contract of employment. Also, make sure you receive copies of all notes/minutes from any meeting.

Well done to Jocool and hubby.

It is great news! We see a fair amount of posters who come up against similar policies in their employment or professional bodies but as yet I haven't heard of a single one who has been dismissed or denied employment. It just goes to show we aren't defined by our iva and that these policies are used sensibly. Which is good news for all of us!

BOL.

People have been lucky I suppose, if it was a legal or accountancy firm the person could be put on restricted duties. The issue is all about intergrity and sound fanancial management, where money is the inevitable temptress. The Police are the toughest on this, they actually want to know if you have a ccj or cc withdrawn whist in service. You can imagine how they would react to Iva. I know that you cannot join the Police whilst on an iva. With the MOD it is Ok andeven with a ten year security clearance. So do not have any credit problems if you want your warrant card. Police have an issue with it. Duties ,promotions, transfer would be affected for officers in an iva.It is about security clearance, the iva harms it.

Actually nomoremoney, can you post that thread? I don't remember saying that I knew of anyone on an IVA that had been dismissed.

I'm not sure i see it as lucky. The policies are there for a reason, but in all cases I've heard of they haven't been a determining factor in suitability for a role. Hopefully, as more employers deal with People with ivas their policies will reflect the good service they know they can expect from these staff. I know the police can be tricky but don't recall anything specific.

Regardless I am just happy everything has turned out ok for my hubby. I think the fact that because he had a sound work record worked in his favour. So let's just be grateful.

This is an interesting discussion, as I also believe you can be a JP with an IVA.

I'm glad you were sorted Jocool - we were all rooting for you.

Agree with BOL - it's nothing to do with luck.

Hi Mike,

I just posted on the other thread, so I've copied mine across to this one as well.

I am police staff in a midlands force, was in a DMP for about 18 months and have been in an IVA for 7 months now. I have not informed work at all about my financial situation, nor do I intend to do so unless it becomes absolutely necessary. I am in control of the situation now, and the post that I hold could lend itself to my being 'bribed' as I can be directly responsible for persons being sent to prison. I am not going to put that in jeopardy.

I have worked for the police now for 37 years both as an officer and police staff. I'm not about to go off the rails now, but I doubt they would see it that way.

I do know of police officers who have posted on here who have been booted off the squad they were on because they were in an IVA. I know that I wouldn't be able to apply for any other positions within my force as they do a credit check.

.....

What I actually said was that someone had posted about been booted off a squad - I did not say they had been dismissed from the police. I personally do not know anyone who has been dismissed.

Apologies Jocool for this thread having been hijacked a little.

I shall say nomore on this subject now and wish you and your husband well.
