Such along time since last posted, even forgot my user ID so created new one. So in month 63, last payment to be made 29th Feb 2012. It was no surprise that its a leap year so have to wait an extra day to make final payment.
Wanted to say ho impress at this moment in time I am with GT since the transfer from B&E, even tho they have increased my payments from £826 to £946 per month to make up for over payments. So it is steady as I go hoppefully the last Xmas with no money and looking around it seems there are more people in the same boat as me than before. First Xmas that no vouchers have been given out for good work too mean its even harder than previous years being so close to the end. However heard that one of my GF work friends has 2 kids a husband out of work and is worried about Xmas as cant afford any of the extras.
I keep worrying that I will encounter some life threatening event and not make it past the finishing line, I am counting days too, although stopped counting hours, minutes and seconds due to the head ache it gave me.
How did others cope with the final months?
What do I do after the final payment?
Any good ides to make Xmas less cash intensive?
You are soooo close now! Relax and enjoy your last iva Christmas. I'm sure nothing will go wrong in the next couple of months to derail you. Congrats xx
This has really cheered me up, as I was feeling that my IVA will never end, and with xmas being so expensive, wondering how i will manage. But you are right, be thankful, at least me and hubby have a job at present. good luck with everything and well deservedxx
Well done on getting this far, wish I was there!!!
After your final payment then you need to wait to get your completion letter then contact all three credit agencies, Callcredit, Experian and Equifax. Make sure that no defaults have been registered after the date of IVA acceptance. If they have, then write to those companies and tell them to remove the defaults.
You'll get there!!

Well done and so close ! The last few months will fly by and you will be debt free!
In the last month or so of my IVA I wrote a list of the to do's that I had wanted to do but couldn't while in an IVA...I then went through the list and prioritised them and worked out costings....for me doing this maked the realisation set in of how silly we had been and how wasteful... We decided that actually the things on the list were no longer of high importance and we chose to throw the list to one side and plan instead how we would save the money that had been for the IVA for the first year or so to ensure we had a good level of savings behind us for those emergencies that crop up!

There is a solution for everyone .... Just need to stay positive !
Thanks all for your messages, I understand the list writting part considered everything from saving to buy a house, holidays, buying things etc. Have been to see the bank and agreed a payment plan to invest 3/4 of my monthly payments into an ISA so will not notice the change in out goings and still leave some extra for treats like random charity shop shopping. Then I can choose when and what to spend on.
I have learn alot about myself during this process and I am glad I will complete, even more pleased that I took the steps need to correct the wrongs of borrowing beyond my means. Although if I was to start again I would of looked around at other companies and hopefully discovered this site sooner.
You are all stars taking the time to offer advise on your experiences.
Well done on nearly being at the end of your IVA! Great idea to save 3/4 - if it comes out direct it's probably better than waiting to see what is spare!
As to Xmas - do you do surveys? Jan has written several sites down on her blog and loads of us do these through the year to fund Xmas. I know the post office do a Xmas savings scheme and there's always saving stamps at your supermarket. You could also get a bottle / piggy bank and save one type of coin all year and see how much you get.
i used to cross of days to getting money !! and suddenley was crossing off days closer to the end of our iva sometimes i have to pinch myself that we are out and we reflect back on how diificult it was ! now 5 months out of it christmas is easier ,and moneys actually in the bank !.it was a massive journey about ourselfs and now we spend money with a different attitude and its now money we have! and not money we have on a card all the best x
Well done on successfully getting this far with your IVA, you are nearly there, well done!
Great idea to save 3/4 of the monthly IVA payment into an ISA,
