I rung grant thornton today to see how my iva was going now its been passed to closures to be told it hasnt even been looked at and i will have to wait till the summer for my completin certificate
i asked why is it when i look on here people with different companys are getting them with in 6 weeks? i could understand if i had misssed payments etc but i have never missed a payment always handed paperwork in on time never had a payment break but there adamenet its there protocol
i thought once finished payments it would feel like a weight has been lifted but i feel like i cant move on at the moment until this certificate comes. my credit report shows my main creditor defaulted me after my iva started and i always thought once i got this certifate i could inform them and they could change the date grant thornton are saying thats not correct and it cant be changed
can someone let me know if this is the case and is anyone else waiting 3-6 months for there cerfiticate like i am???
the womens attitude btw stunk as well and in all the years with grant thornton it was the first time i have ever encountered someone who made me feel very ashamed of being in a iva
Hi. I cannot comment on the GT policy being to wait 6 months. However the information you were given regarding changing the default date was wholly incorrect. Once your IVA has officially completed you can insist that creditors back date any defaults to the date of acceptance of the IVA.
Might I suggest you have a word with Karol, who posts on this forum. She is the GT rep and would like to know that people are giving incorrect advice.
Please email ivacustomerservices@uk.gt.com and ensure that "IVA Forum" is all that is entered in the subject line of the email.

My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

I recently had a very upsetting phone call with the Debt People who I am with. If you feel they have treated you poorly put a complaint in to her supervisor or email your IP direct regarding how you feel you have been treated. They may very well wish to sound snobbish to you on the phone regarding you being in an IVA but if you hadn't of chosen them to supervise your case they would not be making money from your predicament which at the end of the day is their bread and butter. If the IP loses business because of their rude staff I am sure they will have something to say about it.
As for the credit reference file can you confirm that it's the Default date or the Satisfied Date you are querying because I have a capital one debt and they have closed my account when they sold it on and have marked my credit file as satisfied and I too am unsure if that will drop off after 6 years as its satisfied date not default date.
Might be worth making the distinction if this is the case so a professional can answer that side of things as it would interest me also.
Hope it all works out and well done completing must be a lovely feeling I am not far off
no it definatly says default date feb 07 with lloyds tsb when it should of been december 2006
my capital one debt says default date december 2006 and then a satisfied date later on doesnt say that it has been sold on or anything and with experian there isnt any other peoples names on there that i dont know off
i know its only 2 months but its the principle and how she spoke to me if im honest
Ah ok still wonder if those satisfied stamps drop off or not cause its a black
Satisfied stamp on mine not blue so I assume that still acts as a black mark. Hopefully one of the experts will pick up on this and let me know.
Ok so you have two things you can do then a) complain to her supervisor or email your IP stating you really didn't appreciate how their staff spoke to you and is there any way of speeding up the closures process because it's a pressure on your mind and would really appreciate anything they can do to speed up the process with thanks
The second thing you can do is print out the standard letter for the data controller and send to lloyds tsb asking them under article 47 to amend their default date to the date of IVA acceptance.
If they don't do it after 28 days you can then send off another letter under article 41 to say they've not complied and you need it removed I am on my phone at the moment but someone will probably post the link to the standard forms for you or you can google iva forum data controller form see if it comes up for you

Can you contact me by email with "IVA Forum" in the subject line in order that I can look at your specific case?
I am very keen to get any issues resolved and look forward to hearing from you,
Kind Regards
Karol
Hi Kel23
Let us know how you get on as we too are with GT. Our last payment was April but our case was'nt sent too closure until August and still no sign of completion certificate. I cant fault Grant Thornton at all during the time they have dealt with our IVA but it seems post final payment period lets them down, shame really.
I have sent karol an email this morning not had any response as yet though I can't believe it took them that long to send it to closures that's shocking
4 months after my last payment i contacted GT regarding completion certificate which is when they informed that there was still an outstanding sum. I challenged this and it turned out to be an error from my previous IP Blair Endersby. Grant Thornton then passed my case to the closure team but it does go to show that it pays to chase it up or else my IVA may still be sitting there waiting to go to closure now. I emailed GT at the weekend and yesterday too but still no response, they are usually very prompt at replying to my emails.
Good luck from me as well Storm - hope it's sorted soon.
