Sharing from experiences of dealing with debt

Foggy thank you for your post. It went well I think, I had a good chat with Tina where we went through a lot of the I&E and debt amounts and have just received an email of a list of things I need to gather, fill in etc.
There are some really difficult choices to be made soon but I know I will be guided well.
I've just received this email from my bank that I want to share with you all:
"Happy New Year! As ever, the Barclays Banking Team is only a phone call away, so why not get in touch and let us help you plan your finances for the coming 12 months? Whether you need to borrow for a specific purpose or simply rearrange payments from your account, we'd be happy to help."
I'm going to keep it, probably the last good communication I have from them, if only they knew what was about to happen.
Glad it went well Frank. They are an excellent company and of course the forum is here for you at anytime.

you're making positive progress Frank. Tina is a true star, we found her to be very genuine, easy to talk to.
very fleetingly(a dark moment) at the start of discovering our debts([:0]) i thought,"i can't cope with this"..............
thankfully with the kindness & support we found here & our brill IP Mel Giles we are in a much better place.
debt can feel so overwhelming, things are so much better now for us. hope you're ok Recovering, hug x
Nothing stays the same...everything changes..hang on in there!
Rosepetal I must admit I have had dark thoughts as well, depression is a cruel thing, however for now these days are behind me and I feel better that I am confronting my situation. I fear I have no way near hit rock bottom yet though.
We've all been there Frank - you're making the right move and will hopefully be sorted soon.

I can honestly say that if you do decide to go ahead you won't regret it.
I have nearly completed my first year and it has flown by, I still sit and think ( especially after Xmas) how good a position I am in now compared to this time last year. I am not dreading the bills arriving and although it is a fairly drastic step to take by entering an IVA, it can be the best decision too.
Good luck and I hope you make the right path for yourself.

Frank - I know what you are going through. Have been there last year. I decided I couldn't do anything as it would hurt my closest family and friends so took the step and entered into an IVA. 7 months on I am a different person. Still got the depression and will have for the rest of my life but the darkest moments and thoughts have gone.
Frank
You will be fine you have done the hard part which is facing up to your problem The next step you have done and set the ball rolling Now your at the filling in forms point Get that done and sent back so your Iva company can get up to speed Then its just about waiting to see if you need to sign or give more information A couple of weeks for your metting then the best part the phone call to say you are accepted
Best thing to do is dont pay any money whatsoever to your debtors the money you would pay keep in your new bank account Its your emergency back up for later in your Iva
If you pay your debtors now its lost money Your in Iva mode now so its you and your Iva company versus them ok.
Dont take any jip from them let your Iva company deal with them now they are the professionals and can sort the whole thing out
Its scary to put your trust in a company for me I just signed everything whatever they wanted I just wanted it off my hands and coulnt get the agreement posted back fast enough.
Trust me you will feel a lot better when yo get that done Problem shared is a problem halved its true
So now just focus on your meeting date nothing else If they hassle you for payments tell them you are setting an Iva in motion and not to contact you again
Once they know that they will back off and you are in control not them
Look after yourself and dont look back In 2 months you will be sorted and making your first payment
