Thanks for all the advice from my previous post. Looking to get started rebuilding some payment history on my file asap.

I am still waiting on my completion cert, DFD have told me that one creditor is being chased by them for a final statement so they can pay them their share so I should have it in the near future.

Do i need to wait til I have this in hand before I go for one of the high intrest cards that will allow me to get some recent posative payment history on my file or can I crack on and get it moving.

Thanks

I'm not aware of any reason why you can't apply for a Vanquis card or similar now, but probably best to check with your IP first.
Completion certificate received 31 March 2012.

You can try to get a card but it would be better if your IVA were off your record or at least said it were completed.

Will do, I last spoke to them in December and they told me I will have a few months to wait until I get my cert but just to be patient and enjoy the extra money I now have lol. I can't fault them though they have been very good

Thanks steve

Did you have to do a final review etc or just confirm with them when your last payment will be etc so you could then stop your direct debit?

Im a little unsure of when i need to contact them to confirm everything, i have 2 payment left (last one being march 30th eeekkkk!!)

cheers ears [:D]

Good idea to wait Steve - any application for credit that gets refused could go against you on the your credit file so you could do more harm than good if you go for one too early.

Too many credit applications in a short space of time will put you in a bad light with potential creditors. I'd wait, there really should be no rush to get a credit card.

I'll apply to my bank after the 6 years when my credit file is clear, rather than use vanquis.

Good news is that the banks I'm with are all reporting nice green ticks on my credit file, as are vodafone. There are a bunch of old credit cards/loans that are marked as settled, some a year after the start of my IVA and they will be on my file after the defaults and iva are gone. All that data will add to my overall creditworthiness in a strange way.

I don't really want a credit card if I'm honest. The only reason I'm getting one from my bank is that it can be difficult to get a mortgage in a few years time without any credit history on my file. I'll probably use it for petrol and pay it off every month.
We're willing to wipe the slate clean, give you a fresh start. All that we're asking in return is your cooperation.

It was kinda strange mate, I heard nothing at all from them. I made my last payment, checked my papers and bank to confirm id made 60 payments, I had, I even double checked. Last payment was Nov 1st 2011.

I held on to see what they would send me and then at the start of Dec my annual statement arrived. No letter with it saying 'Your Finished' or something to that effect. I called them straight away and they confirmed my case was now in closure and I was FINISHED [:D][:D]

I had already cancelled my SO with th bank as i didnt want to over pay.

They told me that it may take 4 months or more to get my completion statement as one creditor was being slow in sending them some info they needed, but what the hell I was done [:D][:D]

Its so strange having the extra cash now but its b***** amazing lol [:)]

Lol i bet [:D] Me and my partner was talking last night about all the things we can finally do after 5 long years! He got a HUGE consolidation loan just before i got my IVA agreed so in March both of our final payments have been made, riduclous to think there will be £850 a month [:o] just 'floating' about that we're used to doing without! I quess its shocking when you look back at how much you spend on the privialige to borrow money and end up in debt! Something we soooooo wont be doing again!

Roll on April!!![}:)]

Hope your closure happens quick and fast!! oh and get that certificate framed [:p] Best of luck to you steve!!
