It is annoying if they won't let you do DD, but when all's said and done their quote is over half the Kwik Fit one - the latter are justg having a laugh, don't touch them with a barge pole. You can get a much cheaper deal elsewhere.
Last monthly payment made 3 June 2013 after 6 long years. CC issued 21 August 2013, but, er, lost in the post. Finally got it 17 September.

yes we are in a joint IVA, I knew we would have this issue when we started last year, which is why I paid upfront last year and in full from out contingency we were saving by stopping paying creditors leading up to the IVA being approved, so that we could save the money every month so by renewal time we could just pay in full, would be a bit of an issue if we couldn't get it cheaper than £700 for the year though!!!

Well, if you can, this just might have to be one of those bite the bullet situations that we all have at some stage in an IVA. 297 sounds a lot better than the 600+, and whatever you can afford over 300 you can put towards tyres. HSBC, £4k, pmsl, and they wonder why most people hate bankers....

I'm sick of this insurance business now (worked in it for over 20 yrs). I really cannot understand why we are having so many problems with being able to pay monthly. If we were dishonest we wouldn't be in an IVA. Looks like I'm going to have to pay my home ins on an annual basis. Its not a problem becuase I have the funds put aside but its not helping with the budget which I am trying to get to grips with x

Maybe they've recently changed their stand on credit checking as i definitely pay monthly and am with LV Odd. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

So far we have not had a problem paying monthly with our insurance. We won't be able to change house insurance as we've made a couple of claims in the past two years so we're stuck at the moment.

I'm with AA for my car and at the last renewal I WAS allowed to continue on monthly so maybe they didn't check - lets hope they do the same this year x

Indeed it was a shocking quote. the car is not even worth that. I did owe them quite a bit of money at the time though so probably did not want me as a customer anyway given they close accounts of people in IVAs.

This is what makes me think they penalise people in IVAs as they must do some kind of check.

Footiemad - I doubt they will check to be honest, it just usually rolls over provided that there have been no hiccups in the payments. They are more interested in drumming up new business rather than raking over older accounts that are in perfect working order.

We went with swinton in the end and if you go direct you get £40 chequeback after 90 days.

Shop around and dont be afraid to approach ones offering a cheaper quote but not offering monthly payments as quite often you can still pay monthly you just have to ask them when you phone, they are desperate for our business!!!

I had the same thing with Kiwk Fit last year, massive increase but cheaper deals on the comparison sites. So I rang them up and asked why it was, they said its cos they used different underwriters ??

If it helps any I went to Tescos, very cheap insurance and no credit check .... so no problems with monthly payments:-)
all done now :-)

We were with budget insurance for the first 2 years of our iva, paying monthly no problems.
Been with saga for car and house insurance for 2 years now, pay monthly for both no bother with either.
Car is £25 a month for a 1.4 honda.
Aucto Splendore Resurgo.
IVA accepted May 2007.
Extended by 12 months in lieu of equity March 2012.
F+F offer accepted May 2012.
C of C received August 2012.
IVA dropped off credit file 24th May 2013.

Hi All

My OH drives and has the insurance. When she was sent the renewal from her insurers it was the post office providing it. The premium had shot up the same as yours. She looked at comparison sites and found not much to go for.

In the end she rang the post office and said it was too steep a jump and she may have to move to another provider, they immediately dropped the quote back to the price she paid before.

The moral here I think is do not be afraid to challenge them, they need the business.
