Hi. Getting your paperwork within a day sounds a bit over eager on their part ! They can't have done a very thorough job !
Anyhooo ... as Kallis suggested earlier, visit www.iva.com where you will find a list of reputable comanies with reviews. Give a few a ring and see who you feel happiest with. Another useful thing to do would be to scoot around the forum. Many IP's and firm reps post here and you can get a feel for who's who.

IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
I checked out the link and found Express Debt Solutions on there, with an 8 of 10 rating, which is good but I went on to ring Payplan as they are based in my home town to be told I was not eligible for an IVA and that Bankruptcy was my only option!! I'm now very confused as I gave them exactly the same info as I gave to EDS, does it vary from company to company then??? Sooooo confused with all this
Speak to one of the companies via www.iva.com or one of our experts on here who can be found via the 'Ask a Question' link on the left hand side of the pate.
I was initially told that bankruptcy was our only option but here we are, almost four years in.
Do speak to more people. Did Payplan say why you weren't eligible?

Different comanies do have their own criteria, based on commercial reasons. Some will not take IVA's with low reayments, some will.
I don't suppose I should give direct recommendations, as it is really down to you to make your own choices, but Mel's team are a "must ring"(Tina, who posted above has the links in her signature), as well as McCambridge Duffy.

If it's low payments then Cleardebt are good for those.

Payplan said I had an income deficit, wasn't too impressed with him to be honest, he more or less told me we should sell the house, not what I wanted to hear when I was already feeling a bit upset by the whole situation. EDS have given me a low payment & I tried the calculator on here and it gave the same payment too! The EDS paperwork looks proper, just looking at the terms & conditions and it says my agreement with them will start when they receive payment of the initial fee (£265)which is for them assisting me in preparing documents etc. It then goes on to say that once my IVA is accepted this initial payment will become my initial payment into my agreement, does this sound right???
Usually if you make upfront fees then this isn't part of your IVA agreement but of course it does vary from company to company. You can go directly to an IP without paying anyone else to do the upfront work for you.
How much money will you be able to pay monthly?

Possibly - as fees normally come out of the IVA payments.
It's normally introducers (companies that prepare all the paperwork then pass on to an IP firm) that claim up front fees.
Don't less us put you off EDS. If you feel happy with what they have proposed as a figure and you have spoken to others then run with it. It's all about feeling comfortable..as soon as I spoke to Michael Peoples of Mc Cambridge Duffy (who is a representative on here) I knew that they were who I wanted to go with. Bit of a gut feeling. I've had superb service from them all the way through.
Speak to some of the experts who post on here and then see who you are happy to go with.
All of your options will be discussed with you.

I said I would be able to pay up to £300, the monthly payments are going to be £265 which I feel very comfortable with. Would it be wise to take the terms & conds to someone in the know and get them checked over, as its a bit confusing for me?
Speak to another couple of companies to make sure that you are happy with what is proposed and what you can afford.
You can try as many companies as you wish and the experts that post on here come highly recommended and will go over everything with you.

Well one of my inlaws works at Payplan but we don't really want family knowing too much, but I was thinking of the CAB. I did feel quite happy with Danny at EDS, he was pretty thorough in asking me everything and seemed to care about my situation (I had originally rang Norton Finance out of desperation to see about a consolidation loan, which I wasn't eligible for hence going for the IVA). Sorry if I am going on a bit but I want to get this right first time!!
I really appreciate all the advice that is being given on here, so glad I found this website. I will def ring some of the experts tho just so I feel I'm doing the right thing. I wish I wasn't in this situation but such is life!!
It is all down to who you feel happy with as you will be with them for a long time. I wished I had spoken to more companies before settling on the one you feel most comfortable with.
