5 months after final payment, heard nothing from dfd so i rang to ask about completion cert, told me we need to fill in ppi claim forms (we have not received them) we have not been informed of any extension in fact no correspondence at all. I read the terms of our agreement and the final yearly report there is no mention of anything on that only that we have complied with all conditions and exceeded the dividend, can they do this now.

Hi and welcome.

Have you ever taken out any PPI? If not, get on the phone to them and inform them of the fact.

Hi Janet

im also with DFD, i contacted them last december as i had heard about the PPI claims via this forum and had the paperwork sent out, my final payment is due in 2 weeks and hopefully the PPI claims being done by EiF will also be around the same time so i can complete.

You'll see on the firums that the PPI claims issue has been raging for the last 6 months, some people feel the company they are with (its not just DFFD taking this route) they are being forced to claim PPi even when they feel they have not been mis-sold it nor even taken it out, tohers are just filling in the paperwork and sending it back.

Can i ask when you made your final payment did you contact DfD to confirm it was your final payment and you should cancel your standing order etc?

Hi Arty we made our final payment in oct11 and yes we did contact them to ask if it was our last one they said yes and our case had been passed to the closure team and to cancel dd. We have no ppi to claim back we just though the delay was the VAT backlog
Thanks

Twinkle i assume your also Janet?!?!?

This is not good at all, i know DfD had a back log of getting the PPI claims packs out to people, i only had mine sent because i rang up and moaned about it, seems very silly 5 months on your only getting them sent out now.

The process takes about 4 weeks for you to sign, return them to EiF and them to collate the 'complaints' to the banks, the creditors then have 8 weeks to respond, there is then up to another 4 weeks on top to sort out payment, fee's etc etc hence my concern but ive been told it will run alongside the closures process.

the VAT issue has also slowed up many companies from the closures process so this will also create a back log, someone have recently been reporting they have been waiting over a year and still no completion certificate, this must be so frustrating wanting to move on!

I received an email off DFD advising me of final payment etc and was told completion now takes 4-6 months.

let us know how you do get on

Do give them a call, failing that you can email Declan who is a senior debt advisor for DfD who comments on these forums, he's more than happy to look into peoples cases for them and liaise with you direct, his details are dmurray@debtfreedirect.co.uk

hope this helps

How long do DFD customer realistically have got to wait before puting a closure on their iVa and
move on with their lives... Its been a struggle for 5 long years making payments and when finally the day comes when you think its all over the nightmare is still continuing with no end in sight and no definite dates for receiving closure via a completion cerificate. Your life cannot move on and is in the hands of someone else and only after their say so can it move on!! With Ppi and VAt issues its ridiculous these issues have to come up at the end of the IVA !! Am wishing I should have gone bankrupt at the start now, would have been an easier option than be at the mercy of IVA companies!

Unfortunately there has been the VAT/HMRC claim that has tied the hands of the IP's and until the claims are settled there is nothing they can do about it.

I know that Varden Nuttall will be starting to close cases soon.

It is not the IVA companies fault with the VAT claim and not all of them are pursuing the PPI claims.

kallis3, there are current reports on the forum of completion certificates being issued within weeks, even days, by some companies. Do you know how they are able to proceed so speedily? Even without the complicating VAT issues, it appears that some companies are far better placed to deal with completion within a reasonable time frame.

I think completion certificates can be held up for a number of reasons, mine was certainly held up by a very slow creditor not responding in a timely manner

I have no idea why some companies are issuing completion letters, I just know that the VAT issue and PPI claims has caused some problems. Hopefully this is now sorted and companies will start issuing letters once HMRC tell them that the claims are sorted and their refund is on the way.

Hi
Does anyone know if DFD are closing cases and issuing Completion certificates like other companies or are customers being made to wait longer over VAT and other issues? And any 'realistic' timescales would be helpful for completion... I need to move on with my life and rebuild my credit and not be put on hold ....pretty please!

Hi
We are still waiting, coming up to 6 months, we have emailed Declan to see if he can help. I ve got say though the whole process (until now) has been quite painless, Im now really good at seeking out bargains when food shopping and have actually become a better cook. We have had some of the best Christmas`s whilst in the iva, the last one being especially good everyone created corny Christmas jumpers but the rules were we couldnt spend any money, presents for some people were home made hampers and such. Holidays we started camping again which with good people are brilliant. The best thing though is never having a nasty bill at the end, in fact we are usually the only people who dont mind January as we have the same amount of money as Nov and Dec. It can be hard but the peace of mind far out weighed everything else and is the best decision we have ever made. Since last Oct i havent worked as i needed to care for my daughter and really we need to look at moving to a bungalow as she can no longer manage the stairs thats why we need the completion letter, I will never go back to post iva ways i dont want credit again sleeping at night is much better than than bills. Good Luck to all, you will get through xxx
