I've never regretted entering an IVA at all, last year this year and I'll be glad to have the extra money and thankful it's taught me a lesson that I'm not going to forget in respect of money. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Holidays as everyone else says are possible. Little forward planning or a generous family

We've never regretted our IVA either, best thing we ever did. We've managed two holidays. Will be going away for a long weekend later in the year for a wedding and looking forward to it.

We`re both in our 50`s but agree the IVA is the best thing we`ve done. For years the debt was the elephant in the room we tried to ignore but it got so big the ceiling came down. When our application was approved the feeling was one of immense relief. At last we felt destiny was back in our own hands and the credit companies weren`t our lords and masters.[;)]

I have had a holiday for the last 3 years, camping but all the same a holiday, amazing what you can do on a budget and also when doing a little research for cheap camping stuff, equipment soon mounts up, this year don't have to buy anything. xx
Om shanti, namesté, good luck to all who are embarking on the IVA journey, it isn't always an easy one but the outcome is the best.

IVA COMPLETED August 2012, received Completion certificate 18.4.13.

My husband and I go camping at least three times a year and love it. It is a great way of relaxing, and having good quality family time away from the telly and other electronic gadgetry which regularly disturbs our time together. He deliberately picks campsites where there is no wireless for these very reasons!

we went on one of the sun holidays in April to snowdonia and had a fantastic time, weather was beautiful and we stayed in a caravan which was fully centrally heated, luxury fittings and had use of the pool complex for the kids on site, all for under £100 for 3 nights, the kids enjoyed it so much (and these are kids who have been to florida and gambia only a few years ago) they can't wait to go back, we have just booked again for 1st week in september. We are going to try and book these each time they come out and to be honest, will probably continue to do so even when the IVA is complete.

A holiday at the end of the day is what you make it, no matter where you are or how much it cost

we love camping too Mel, I'm quite an antisocial person myself and much prefer to be on a quiet site, away from the hustle and bustle of every day life

Good for you Lem - those Sun breaks are a godsend for families on tight budgets, and when the children are small so long as they are having fun and being kept entertained they will enjoy the break whereever you take them. Glad you enjoyed your trip to Wales - I am of course completely biased!

My wife and I bought a tent before entering into our IVA and we've had the best holidays ever since doing so! We've got 2 young children and have found a very selective (but reasonable!) campsite in Normandy that is absolutely brilliant and we go every summer. We save what we can throughout the year and have a very tight summer so that we can go, but I wouldn't swap it for the world and we will continue to go when our IVA is finished.

I love Normandy - you will have to send me the details. Do they accept dogs?

I will Melanie but they don't accept dogs, they've got a small holding with chickens, sheep, ducks, a cockeril and a donkey!! They're afraid that dogs may frighten the animals. It's a small chateau close to Bayeux. We call it paradise because it's so quiet and perfect to "get away from it all".

Oh I love that area - have many holidays there in the past (pre-dogs!). Looks like the kennels for Max and Rosie then - I'd love a week im France later on in the summer.

We're not going this year as my dad's ill so will happily look after Max and Rosie for you! We've been 4 times and love it and the children are devastated they're not going this year. We're hoping to go next Easter holidays and stay in the gite they have next to the chateau.
