This is an interesting one regarding insurance. I recently renewed my car insurance with m&s and prior to doing this used a number of comparison sites. When i checked my noddle credit report it shows all the companies that have recently made searches on my credit report. Now if i was to go in to a bank and ask for a loan then the computer would search my credit file and see that i have an ongoing insolvency (IVA) and say NO!
So if it is that important for an insurance company to know if i am insolvent then they can surely see this from my credit report. I might be wrong but i fail to see how something that is so freely available (Insolvency register) can be seen as matter of fact.

Insurance searches do not show up on your credit report if other lenders look at it - it's purely to check your details.

I have never declared my IVA to my insurance company and have made a couple of claims since starting the IVA and have had no problems.

Insurers will use any little loop hole not to pay so we have to be on our guard! It is ridiculous tho....teenage boys are factually likely to be more involved in accidents yet their car insurance can't reflect this because it is gender discrimination...people in ivas can be penalised because there is a prejudiced and unproven view that we would falsify claims and this is allowed. I don't like the rules but would urge everyone to check with their insurers.

We've claimed and had no problems other than an increase in premiums on renewal which I can accept.

Well, I got a reply today from customer services and they have said they will insure me as long as I have not been declared bankrupt.

So Axa will provide building and contents insurance to those of us in IVA`s.

How bizarre that your insurance company did not know what an IVA was, but thank you for sharing your research with the forum Goosed.
