Who are Creditfix Limited and why have grant thornton suggested that they may be able to assist me become debt free, when i already have an Iva with GT running into its 3rd year. Grant Thornton wrote in their capacity as agent of EIC??
Hi, I believe they are referring to a PPI claims company.
There appears to be an awful lot of unhappy GT customers who have recieved this letter today, months after they believe their IVAs to be in the closure process.
At least you are still in your 3rd year so this shouldnt have any impact on your eventual closure.
Just PPI claims, lucky for us we too are just aproaching year 3, so at least it won't get held up at the end.
The way I see it, they will claim money back from the interest charged by these companies and just give it straight back to them because we owe them the money - madness, who's making from this ??? Mmmmmmm
Don't worry about it - let it run it's course. [:)]
*** Don't look back, you're not going that way ***
We had PPI on a Halifax loan a few years ago. We made a claim when my husband was off work sick for a number of months and the repayments were covered for about 3-4 months, so I would assume we would not be expected to pursue a claim? We are 3 years into our IVA....
Yes if you read some of the advice regarding this, it does say to continue as there are several ways of clarifying being mis-sold PPI, eg interest added, credentials of the person selling and so on.

Om shanti, namesté, good luck to all who are embarking on the IVA journey, it isn't always an easy one but the outcome is the best.
IVA COMPLETED August 2012, received Completion certificate 18.4.13.
I got one of these this morning. my IVA should have been completed last year but we still do not have the completion certificate. I think this explains why. Maybe the end will be in site soon

I spoke to GT and the GT creditfix letter is not PPI it is for the reclaim of bank charges and credit card charges.
This is a completely different process and requires you to firstly calculate how much all your charges have been over the last six years, this is done by going over all your statements. Then making a claim to the bank / CC company, they do not have to pay this money back unlike PPI so they will probably make an offer if they feel you have a case, from what I have seen the offer is circa 50%.
If you cannot find all your statements you will have to pay for copy ones which may cost more than the amount you can claim...
You also have to show that you were in financial hardship at the time the charges were made or that the charges put you into financial hardship..
I saw somewhere that EIC take some 30% for doing this work, there was also something which said they get an initial fee for taking on clients, not sure if this applies in this instance as I cannot see GT paying money out of the IVA..

I don't have my old statements. They are long gone.
I never liked bank charges etc. but I paid them all until I started the IVA process.
As such I cannot see I was unfairly charged.
As for financial hardship- that's why we're in an IVA in the first place isn't it?
Final payment made Dec 2011.
Certificate of Completion arrived 26th Sept 2012
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! b***** hell everyone getting on the band wagon when we have been up front and as a lot paid F & F but still waiting for the b***** CC??? Then you get letters saying to give your details to EIC NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No wonder this country is in the state it's in. Ok You have loans credit cards you live above your means, hard time rubbish ex who doesn't work. You go down the line of IVA to get you back on track life is hard and you finally see the light then your IVA company try to get money from a 3rd party that you may get some ??? Does not make sense. Just give me please my CC so I can get on with my life fuming at GT!!!!
I queried the EIC issue with ivaclosures 2 weeks ago, I received an e'mail reply telling me that GT would post a full explanation on this forum, unfortunately the explanatory letter was as clear as mud so I'm still no further forward.
I haven't had any contact from EIC and it's now more than 4 months since my final payment and closure of my IVA seems to be going nowhere fast.
What have I got to do to get a straight answer to a very simple question: Will my IVA still be closed within the 6 months promised or is this EIC issue going to extend the closure period even further??
I have posted on this forum for more than 5 years and in all that time I have always had positive things to say about GT.
Unfortunately I regret to say that the level of service and lack of communication being provided during my closure process is nothing short of abysmal!!!!!
IVA COMPLETED ON THE 17th MARCH, FINAL I&E COMPLETED 26th APRIL, COMPLETION CERTIFICATE ARRIVED 2nd AUGUST
Another thing with it all is that it is only charges over a "fair" amount which can be queried. A "fair" amount is deemed to be between £12 and £15 a time..
Also if you had an account you paid monthly for, one where you get an agreed overdraft limit and other perks, then you cannot claim charges on these back as they are different in some way - I assume it must be because you are paying monthly for a service but not really sure..
I called GT and told them did not want the EIC service and will do it myself and they said ok, it is a joint IVA so my wife rang as well and they told her they were not happy, she could not refuse and they were going to send a "disclaimer".. she felt she was bullied by them..
