Hi, Ive had some overtime at work last month so when I get my pay I will have roughly £80 to pay extra to my IVA ( working on the 10% 50% 50% rule). I need to buy whole new school uniform for my youngest because he is starting the comp in sept and its working out very expensive so the £80 I wud be expected to pay over to my IVA would come in very handy for this as you can imagine, also my eldest needs some new uniform and its his 15th birthday end of this month also so its gonna be an expensive month lol :0) Any advice/thoughts would be appreciated x
You could ask your IP about the uniforms -- wouldn't mention the birthday though. They will ocassionally allow you to keep back monies for important extra expenses, but don't make any assumptions and spend it first, as you might find yourself in arrears !

Hi, No I wasnt going to mention about his birthday lol, just saying its an expensive time and also trying to entertain 2 kids during the school hols doesnt come cheap lol x
So true -- and only being a couple of months in, you haven't been able to build up any sort of emergency funds either ! Hopefully your IP will take that into consideration too.
Who are you with ?

Hi, Im with Payplan. Ive been looking at prices for uniform and its amounting to about £180 because he needs all new sweat shirts, polo shirts, trousers, school shoes p.e/rugby kit, footy boots.......... the list goes on! so the £80 would come in very useful lol x
When my daughter was at school all I had to get from the school were the sweatshirts and PE shirts, everything else came from either Asda or Tesco thankfully.
Hi, the 10% and 50% of my share will be going on uniforms also because the £80 will go no where near paying for everything he needs. The schools policy is that all the uniform has to have the school logo on so cant just go to Asda unfortunately. So I have to pay £12 per sweatshirt, £7.50 per t shirt, £25 rugby kit, £20 for p.e hooded top, £8 a pair of trousers, £8 for p.e tshirt, the list is endless. Im certainly not trying to rip off my IVA but when you are in an IVA and every penny is accounted for then trying to find extra amount of money is impossible!!!!!! It is just fortunate there was overtime at work available for me to hopefully pay for the uniform.
Oh and thats just for my 11 year old, my 15 year old also needs a few new items of uniform.
Thanks Lesley, it is a bit of a nightmare :0) x

In that case, if I were your IP I would allow you to retain the balance to cover these unexpected costs - but do let your IP know the full extent of the costs so that they can take these into account.
Hi Melanie, thanks for your advice, I will ring my IP as soon as I kno what my wage will be for august and explain about what I need to buy and how much its gonna cost, hopefully I may still have some surplus left to pay over to them once I have paid for the uniforms x
We're with payplan and asked for this last year and unfortunately they declined . Both my boys needed full school uniforms due to growth spurts and cost well over £200 due to having the logo on etc. But they did say if they were to go / move up to a new school they would re- look at it - not sure what the difference is as a full uniform is a full uniform. Our eldest has moved up to secondary this time so like you we'll see what the outcome is. Good luck let us know how you get on x
Hi, Its a worry isnt it because its so expensive having to start from scratch when they go to a new school, and kids being kids grow lol so school trousers from last term just dont fit now! Im hoping payplan understand my need, I mean I am still paying my normal monthly payment, thats not a problem its just the overtime money I feel would be very handy to pay for new uniform, if they say no I really dont kno where Im gonna get the money from :0( fingers crossed!!!! Like you say Struzzo school uniform is school uniform and it is an essential not a luxury x
What reason did Payplan give you for not allowing additional monies to buy your children's essential school uniform Struzzo? You could have just missed a payment rather than continuing to struggle, but perhaps they felt that your household clothing budget ought to have been sufficient.
