I dont understand any of this. I had a letter through the post on Saturday and it just seems more hassle

Now i was rejected for a PPI claim when i looked into one before my IVA and as far as im aware no chargers where made to my accounts . Does this affect the day to day running. Im quite happy sitting back and watching my IVA be paid off

Hi all

Just a quick note, I too received this EIC letter through the post this morning (30/7) dated the 19th. Phoned GT this afternoon to let them know i do not want my details passed on !! (even though it had already passed the 10 days deadline) as i did not wish to make any claims. They said that was ok. Sure hope this doesn't affect my IVA, i have paid for the last 5 years 5 months !

Just hope that in 7 months time when my last payment is made, all these ppi, bank charges etc are all sorted and i will receive my CC before the end of 2013. Never know a miracle might happen !! [:)]
All the best,

Regards Daz (webspark)

Completion Certificate Received 2nd October 13. [:)]

If your IP firm has confirmed that there is no legal obligation for you to make the claim, then this should not affect closure of your case.

Thanks Melanie,

GT did not inform me of any legal obligation for me to make a claim, so closure should (fingers crossed) be straight forward hopefully next February. !! [:)]

Well, I got a reply at last from GT to my email from about 2-3 weeks ago inquiring exactly what the letter was about. They offered me the option of signing a disclaimer and as soon as I had confirmation that it couldn't in any way lead to an IVA breach I said to please send it and they said OK.

However, it seems that it took that long to get the reply that the ball is already rolling? I received a letter today from my old bank regarding “my complaint”...doh.

Couple of points:

1) GT will now have to get back in touch with them and withdraw/stop whatever action has been started...I hope. I never really incurred any charges apart from the month or so whilst my IVA was being set up / approved. I have no intention in claiming for bank charges now or in the future hence the disclaimer.

2) My old bank didn’t have my current address until this incident as I've moved since so I’m not too happy my personal details have been shared without my proper consent due to the ridiculous time scales set by GT that are supposed to allow for the letter's delivery and subsequent correspondence to allow us to say yes or no.

I hope I don’t get a load of correspondence from them now.

To be honest, I hope I don't get correspondence from all of my other creditors as well to my new address thinking about it!

I managed to get my completion certificate without all the EIC nonsense. Wasn't asked - wouldn't have done anyway - to do a PPI claim.

I'd have been horrified if my old creditors had got back in touch because of an attempt to pressure them into making a severe hardship payment.

I still maintain that anything EIC get will be small fry in most cases and will make very little difference to the final dividend esp[ecially with a 30% fee plus VAT.

None of my finacial hardship was caused by excessive bank charges it was caused my me spending money I didn't have and juggling 10 credit cards to keep my head above water.

I think GT have made a very bad judgement on this issue.

Me too. Think about it: claiming bank charges from creditors to put into the IVA pot to give back to the creditors???

Yet again we see another issue in regards to consent of the client being obtianed first.
From what I hear Grant Thorntons standard excuse is 'we have to wait for tax to be repaid and this will take approx 6 months'
Got that from this forum and others.

I'm totally fed up with Grant Thornton

They are doing nothing right and using every trick weather it be legal or not to hold up completions in the hopes of gaining more money from themselves!

I have been waiting 10 effing months for my completion certificate and every email I send them gets a reply adding more questions as to why they are taking so long. To make matters worse you cannot simply call the closures team as they have no phone lines ( how convenient)only an email address. The latest fob off by them is to do with the separation of my iva from my ex wife's 5 years ago!! To me they are just stalling for more time and in hope of more money.

I am at my wits end with this monkey run company who in my opinion are in no state to be running such an important service such as iva's.

I shall be taking matters further and if needs be the press and the courts.

Please people if you are considering an iva DO NOT use Grant Thornton!!
