FAO Melanie Giles

Re, reply to your reply from earlier,
IVA partnership management company.
Im with Grant Thornton and the management company works in partnership with them.

I know I have no PPI owed to me because the greedy banks I borrowed from didnt insist on it and as for overpaid bank charges I guess everyone suffers them so to probable get back a few quid here and there is it worth the hastle of (waking up the beast) when I have no interest in it and things are fine the way they are.

I have no assets within my IVA and in my second year I do expect and I dont mind paying more into my IVA. I guess its a personal choice but by refusing to go along with their offer does it go against you in the long run? Also what do the management company get from it? Do they do it for free?

I know you directed this to Melanie, but, whilst its true that any monies which come in from either PPI or bank charges do go straight into the IVA it does help bring down the value of the original debt which can only be a good thing.

If the creditors see that you are doing whatever you can to pay them back they can only look favourably on you and should you have a problem further down the line then this can only help.

As for using a third party to retrieve the funds I would not touch them with a barge pole they are just getting money for nothing. You can do all the work yourself in about ten minutes and whilst it may only be £70 or £100 into the IVA every little helps..

Thanks NJ

The PPI route would be a waste of time for me but going solo to ask my IVA creditors (banks) if over the years they have over charged me and can they check this out.

How would I go about asking them?

Sorry - I am having difficulty tying up this thread with earlier posts. Is there something you would like clarification from me on Steven?

Hi tangerine - I gather Tina has left you a message to ask what your availability is today. I am around all day, so if you prefer to post a time here then just let me know when it would be good to call.

Sorry about the confusion.

Basically my IVA people have a partnership management company that try and help you claim any PPI or unfair bank charges charged by my creditors.

I dont really want anyone else nosing into my past finances its been stressfull enough.
I know I dont have any PPI owed to me but I also understand it looks good on my file if I take up the services of this company.

I can do the above myself without using the management company, PPI is advertised everywhere free.

As for being overcharged by banks/creditors, how can I ask them direct to check out my past bank charges?

Is it a simple case of sending them a letter asking them to check it out?

I could then send my IP the results in my own time and it would show I have tried to recover money to put into my IVA fund.

What do some people do in this situation?

If you are adament that you have never been mis-sold PPI, you should tell your IP this - but they may still ask you to complete their enquiry forms as it has been known in the past for creditors to have included PPI in with the loan without the knowlege of their customers, so most IPs do like to check this out.

With regard to bank charges, I would simply write to tbe banks concerned and ask them do they feel you have been overcharged. One poster on the forum the other day did this and got a refund of £70. If you have historic bank statements you could also summarise the charges and calculate a claim based on the results.
