Contacted Grant Thornton in july about final paperwork. Made last payment in December 2011. They told me i would get my paperwork through by the end of August 2012. Did it turn up NO. Contacted them again in beginning of September to find out why. Told this time that the closure team would ring me with an explanation. Have they rung NO. What is happening? Why don't they ever give us the truth ?

I'm sure you will receive it soon Trainman. I made my last payment in October 2011. Finally received my CC on Aug 28th. Keep the pressure up. It's definitely worth it for piece of mind.

It's all to do with PPI claims and VAT issues at the moment I think.

Hopefully Karol will pick up on this post and be able to contact you directly with a more realistic idea of a closure date.

Good Morning Trainman,

I apologise for the difficulty you have had in receiving an update on the closure of your case.

The closures team can be contacted direct by email at iva.closures@uk.gt.com and provide an update on the progress of your case.

Kind Regards

Karol

Did as Karol said but got no reply from closures team. Rang them again and was told my closure certificate was being held up because i was owed a refund. She took my bank details said the money would be transferred in and that i would receive my closure certificate by the end of this week. No money has gone into my bank account so i take it no certificate will be received either. I am getting really cheesed off now and just wish someone would give me a truthful answer.

Just phoned GT again and the story has changed once more. Yes i am due a refund which should be in my account so they are looking into that. She said no timescale was given as to when i would receive the closure certificate ( this is not true). I now have to wait another 10 days and ring them back to see if any reply has been received from the closure team. I think Jackanory should return to television and perhaps the GT staff should host it.

GT are brilliant, not, having the same problem as you with closure certificates, excuse after excuse, I don't believe a word they say now, just stop contacting them and then they can't bull***t you, it's certainly less stressful. I have now been told they wish to advise that they have now received the required refund from Blair Endersby, these funds now need to be distributed equally amongst your creditors. Under the Blair Endersby system that we have acquired we are only able to distribute funds to creditors on one day of each month, the next distribution run is the beginning of October. Therefore we will be able to make your final distribution to creditors at that time and your closure documents should follow thereafter.

Wonder what it will be next month

I was fed the same line about having to wait longer as the old BE system only allowed the final distribution to be made on a certain day of the month.

When my certificate finally arrived (6 months after final payment) it transpired that no final distribution was actually made as the residual funds were all swallowed up by GT's retrospective fee increase.

According to GT, the closure of my IVA was prioritised - it certainly didn't feel that way. I got my certificate in March 2012, yet 6 months later people are still complaining of the same problems I experienced, despite Karol continually making promises of improved service levels - it's all rather sad really.
Completion certificate received 31 March 2012.
