Hi all, id just like to say you are all great and have been a significant influence in me taking the leap and getting in touch for iva advice.

Still worried nd got loads of questions buzzing around. i am waiting for my soa and supporting documents to arrive. ive cancelled my direct debit and my new joint bank acc just requires my partner to sign next monday with yorshire bank. Im really worried bout the direct debits as iv never missed a payment and i feel like im cancelling direct debits early as i havent received named doc's above.
My creditors are halifax, nram, barclays, hsbc (66k), so im expecting nram to push for 6yrs, am i right thinking this?
my other main worry is im starting a degree in feb and i hope my ip ( (thats if my iva is accepted #128591;#128591;) allows me to apply for student finace in all 3 years. basically when i complete degree i have a guaranteed secure job. i dont need to repay student loan until 4 years time and then it will be £30 per month.

anyone have experience or opinion

Hi there bishop and welcome to the forum

Hasn't the IP you have selected to represent you discussed all of these matters with you? There would seem to be little problem in you accepting the student finance, but I would definately check that out with them prior to signing up to the IVA.

Glad you have found the forum helpful.

hya melanie, thanks for the reply.
haha its so strange you are the first to reply. i have followed you on here and after nearly a year of contemplating you and your company were my preferred choice. i have initially discussed with tina who was really comforting and put me at ease. i mentioned student loan and she said it is more than possible but would need approval.
last time i spoke was tuesday, im just waiting by the letter box for documents to get the ball rolling. very nervous though

yes melanie, hope to speak soon. tina has passed my info over to mark/c. hopefully documents might come today.

Since contacting earlier this week i have actually had a decent sleep. i didnt realise to what extent the stress and worry was affecting me. for the past 2 yr my first thoughts after waking was debt then the head ache came on. the past few days have been so different, now it is thoughts of the future.

My first lot of direct debits are due monday so im a bit anxious to the responces i get.

Have you or anyone on here had people who have applied for student loans during an iva??

Hi Bishop and its great that you find the forum helpful and supportive :-)

If you are applying for a student loan through the student loans company then your application will not be affected by your IVA.

Your pack was posted yesterday, finges crossed you will get this in the morning. Marc will discuss everythng with you prior to drafting your proposal and finalising your figures.

Enjoy your weekend and your sleep :-)

Thanks kelly, thats great news.

The degree course i want has took 3 yrs of asking my employer for support with time and flexibility. they have now agreed. i was nervous to whether i could continue with the student loan due to the payment becoming repaid in possibly yr 4/5 of the iva.

look forward to the doc's arriving!!

omg what a stressful day.

i started to open a bank account with yorkshire bank. it is a joint account and i specifically asked for the basic ready cash acc. my partner was unable to attend the same day as me so she went today to sign.
when iv arrived home the adviser has opened the signiture acc. although it is basic without overdraft it is one of them cards with amonthly fee £12 for car break down, phone insurance etc. is this allowed in an iva or will i have to cancel it?

im so stressed coz theres a combination of pressure to change direct debits with starting new policies (got all bills lower price via comparison site) and obviously the run up to proposal.

one day i hope my luck changes!! anyone advise on the signiture acc??

You don't have to cancel it - depends if you can afford the £12.

I would speak to them and tell them you don't need all of the extras if you're not comfortable with it.

You should be able to still get free banking - have you tried the Co-op who offer good banking facilties to financially challenged customers.

The point is you have been given (sold?) something by the bank that you did not ask for. Remember PPI? Added when people knew nothing about it. Why did they open the signature acct when you specifically asked for the readycash. Probably because the employee will get commission (or more for commission opening the sig acct). Go in and tell them you want it changing to the readycash acc. To my mind it's just the banks continuing to cleverly missell products that will earn them cash.
