Hi after panicking about contacting DFD I broke down and told my mum. She was really supportive and has paid the loans off so now I just need to focus on repaying her. Mindful of all of your wonderful advice I will still speak with DFD to do a new assessment of my income and expenditure. Thank you so much again for your advice and support, you helped me through the toughest time and I am so grateful x

Glad you have managed to get sorted... what a wonderful mum you have. Hopefully DFD will review your income and expenditure and help you to get back on track. Wishing you well.

Ask them to review the I&E ASAP as you seem unable to cope based on the existing terms. Sam

Glad to see that the problem has been fixed, but I am glad that you are still looking at the symptoms. Anyone needing to borrow money whilst in an IVA, may well have agreed an unrealistic budget - and the first port of call should always be the IP who these days has quite a lot of discretion at their disposal to help. If things are tight for you, try to keep a money diary over the next months or two to see what you are actually spending on your various categories of household and general expenditure in an attempt to see where overspends are occuring. If these can be justified your IP may be able to agree a reduction in payments.

Thanks so much, yes I'm very lucky and have finally been able to eat and sleep properly. It's frightening that for the small amount I borrowed how it spiralled out of control so quickly. Guess that's how they make their money.
I'll contact my IP about a review and go from there. Thanks again :-)

im with dfd too and hopefully making my last payment this month, although i have never been in your situation during the IVA I have faced difficulty, but I always contacted my ip ( nicola teeder i think she is called) and as long as you are honest and open with them they are fantastic, we have had to extend our IVA due to redundancies and life issues, and as a result had changes made to our I&E but dfd have always been supportive and very helpful. Good luck and in future talk to them first. Pleased your sorted out now tho.
