Hi Sarah and welcome to the forum, i can't add anything that hasn't been said already but what a brave and thoughtful lady you are, i hope that the conversation with your IP went well and that hopefully they will consider what you have paid already as a full and final.
The most important thing is that you don't worry and think about yourself and spend some quality time with your family, good luck with your forthcoming treatment. xxxxx
Om shanti, namesté, good luck to all who are embarking on the IVA journey, it isn't always an easy one but the outcome is the best.
IVA COMPLETED August 2012, received Completion certificate 18.4.13.
I did the unthinkable and i'm so glad i did...!!! I spoke to my partner and he was amazing...so supportive and exactaly the man i fell in love with...
However i asked him to contact the IP, RSM Tenon as i was in no state after the chemo. They have given the following options:
1) He takes over the payments
2) They can offer a payment break
3) Become a Bankrupt and loose the home i live in
It really is the worst case scenerio's, i really didn't want to leave my partner the debt (that's just not fair on him)...a Payment break... i have been given 3-6 months to live... what use is a payment break... and my home is all i have left for my boy ( i have no life insurance) but my partner wanted to take the mortgage.
Someone must have misunderstood at Tenon as I am sure they would propose a full and final based on payments to date. Try and speak directly to your IP and hopefully this can be resolved. I see no reason why creditors would not agree to close down the IVA so Tenon must have crossed wires somewhere.
Sarah - I completely agree with Michael - I cannot believe RSM Tenon would expect the IVA to continue knowing the situation with your helath. Of course as always it is down to the creditors response however any good company would straight away look to see if this can be settled to date. Please push with them or get your partner to and speak to the IP.
I am so pleased to read what a supportive partner you have - it will be key for you as you deal with everything and it is good for you the IVa is now out in the open - one less worry for you to carry yourself.
Please keep us posted on RSM Tenon and how you are doing - we are all here for you.

Hi Sarah and welcome from me. Due to your circumstances I'm sure you must be able to put forward a fulll and final based on contributions to date...did you mention this to the IP.
Your partner sounds wonderful and I'm so glad understanding. I'm sorry to read your news and wish you all the best. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
You should definately ask them to put forward an offer of settlement based on payments you have made to date. At the end of the day the outcome of your IVA lies with creditors, and I don't think it is fair to put the pressure of your debts on your partner.
Sarah, I absolutely commend you for the very difficult decision to talk to your partner and I am so pleased that he is the man you knew him to be!
As for your IVA company, as the others have stated they really must not have listened properly to what was being said! Having a discussion with someone about your health is so difficult, so email your IP, give him the facts and that way it's less stressful for you.
Hi Sarah, I'm sorry to hear about your health. As everyone has said, your finances take a back seat, but you are right to deal with it. Well done for discussing with your partner.
I used to work at RSM Tenon and I'm sorry to hear about the advice you have received. I am sure once they know the full facts they will give you the correct advice.
I'm sure it can be resolved quickly for you.
Very few problems cannot be resolved with an open and frank discussion.
Always discuss your problem honestly with your Nominee/Supervisor.
Given the news announced today about the proposed sale of the IVA book, it is possible that they are busy with those matters at the moment. Am sure someone will get back to you as soon as they can, but why not try e-mailing your IP directly in the meantime.
Sarah, just in case you have a look in on here I just wanted you to know that you are still in my thoughts and hoping that the treatment for your illness is going ok. Sending you virtual hugs, god bless xxxxx
I just wanted to thank you all for your support and kind words... It's been a rough few months and I have no idea what the future will bring.
RSM Tenon had sold my debt to Grant Thornton, once my partner explained the situation to them they were very considerated and told him they would apply for final and full settlement with the payments already done. and thankfully that's exactly what happened.
It's been about 2 months I think since they agreed to it and haven't taken any money but I haven't had any formal notice to say the debts are settled but I guess that cones in time.
I feel relived... And thankful that I'm not leaving this debt behind.
