Hi all, over 6 long years have passed since the start of our IVA, we completed in Jan this year [:D].

Credit files are starting to look a little normal but I have one problem that I could do with some suggestions/help with.

My IVA started in 2006, in 2007 my mobile was hacked and I ended up with a bill of over £150. Vodafone agreed that I could pay in installments but they passed this to a 3rd party to collect. Looking at my credit file they defaulted me in 2007 and listed the account as settled in 2008. I have raised a dispute with equifax and with Vodafone but given my experience with both I'm not hopeful of getting anywhere fast.

Any suggestions?

Probably not what you wanted to hear but why did you agree to pay the debt when it was not yours? by doing this I guess you have accepted responsibility for the debt so the default will stay on your file for 6 years from the date it was applied, I think you will have no chance of having this removed to be honest.

It's never a good idea to accept responsibility for debts you don't own and by agreeing the payment plan you basically accepted liability for the debt. Hence they put a default.

Having said that surely Vodafone should have investigated the fraud claim and if needed pass on details to the police. If you can show this in your dispute they may agree to the removal of the default but as lem says I would not hold up much hope given the amount of time that has passed now and your agreement to the payment plan.
We're willing to wipe the slate clean, give you a fresh start. All that we're asking in return is your cooperation.

Hi Sith,

Thanks for making me aware of your concerns.

I work as part of Vodafone Web Relations Team who offer assistance to customers who have posted about queries they have relating to their accounts with us on forums such as Money Saving Expert (MSE) and Consumer Action Group (CAG).

If you'd like me to take a closer look at matters for you could you email me with your details via the Contact us form https://help.vodafone.co.uk/system/self ... ANGUAGE=en quoting the code WRT135 - Fao Lee in the subject line?

Once sent you'll receive an automated reply with a reference number. To ensure that it reaches me could you update the thread with this and I'll get back to you as soon as possible?

Kind regards,

Lee

Welcome to the forum Vodafone - I think this is the first time a creditor has joined the forum, so let's hope that Vodaphone customers with queries will benefit from Lee's presence.

Barclays popped up for a very short spell, I believe.

May I also welcome Vodafone aboard.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

Welcome to Vodafone from me as well. I have dealt with the web relations team and they are excellent so I would definitely recommended that the OP gets in touch with them.

Hi all,

Thanks very much for the warm welcome, it's appreciated.

We've been helping customers who post on independent forums for over three years now and have enjoyed a considerable amount of success. If you'd like to see some of cases where we've been able to help our customers please see the Consumer Action Group Forum here: http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/fo ... VF-Webteam..

Hopefully the OP will accept the offer of assistance to enable us to take a closer look at their concerns.

Kind regards,

Lee
