Hi All

I know this is probably a silly question but one i have been mulling over the last couple of days.

As some of you may be aware me and my husbands creditors meeting is on the 6th December, I do work from home but cannot decide whether to just book the day off or work as normal, I guess there is still that fear that it may be refused and i would have to continue to work all day blubbing! ( Meeting is morning time)

So i was just wondering what other people did on the day of their meeting :)

Personally, working from home, I would work as normal. If, in the unlikely event you are refused, then just work slower --- no point in wasting a perfectly good day off.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

I took the day off - meeting was in the afternoon and there was no way I would have concentrated at work. Then again, I am office based so it would have been awkward to take the call at work.

Absolutely, took the day off just for some privacy. That and I would have been a wreck all day waiting for a call.

Still remember when I arranged the IVA I thought I would have to attend the meeting in person and meet creditors so had booked it off anyway. Then to my releaf I was told it was not necessary to head up to Sheffield and could all be done on phone :-)
We're willing to wipe the slate clean, give you a fresh start. All that we're asking in return is your cooperation.

for my creditors meeting , i worked as normal; of course I had already not slept for nights and convinced myself the proposal would be rejected !! It was passed , as indeed most are particularly these days

that was however before i knew about the forum. now some 6yrs later, the general feeling is that as IVA's have now been here for many years, the IVA companies know much more what the creditors are likley to vote for and vice versa.

dont book a days Hol , carry on as normal. Whilst I do not know any of your personal circumstances ( and am not asking either ) I would suggest that yoru proposal is likley to be accepted or at worst have a slight modification.

In summary , dont waste a days hol , convince yourself all will be ok, as this will give you a more peaceful 2 weeks and good luck.

I look forward to your posting on 6th Dec saying all went well and you are now on the IVA journey !!

good luck

I took a day's holiday as I wouldn't have been able to think straight at work or have been able to take the call anyway. As we had no money taking a day's holiday was no hardship as I wasn't using them anyway.

A point I'd like to make is that my proposal was rejected but I had 14 days to adhere to the creditor's modifications, which I did and it was accepted. However, the chap who called me, (who I remember being the most miserable sod I've ever spoken to), did not offer this to me and suggested a DMP for 6 months then to try again. When I mentioned the 14 day period, he seemed a bit dejected. Testament to this forum and other research that I did leading up to the creditor's meeting otherwise I would have had a wasted 6 months.

Hi Cariadqueen,
I popped home for a couple of hours in the middle of the day ready for the call. Luckily everything went ok and I was able to return to work feeling better than I had when I had left!

Good luck for December 6th

That brings back memories Cardiaqueen. I was in hospital and the better half took time off work so we sat on my bed waiting for the call. As soon as Jo, my wife, went for a pee the call came.
And we were accepted so I celebrated with a King Size Double Decker later on !!!
Try not to worry. If you`ve got this far it`s all over bar the shouting.

It was awful Cariadqueen. I am dreading the Aussies next week, as their supporters are not usually as kind as the NZ ones. Just glad we are not playing South Africa this year!
