If I get any unsolicited texts I forward them to 7726 [SPAM on your telephone keypad]. It is then recorded as an unsolicited texts and the regulators can deal with it. You receive acknowledgement immediately of your complaint and I have found since using this service the number of SPAM texts has dropped significantly. It could be a coincidence but perhaps not.

That's interesting Michael, I'll try that next time I get one about my PPI claim or the accident I had recently!

I've just read a bit more about the SPAM number and anyone on Vodafone needs to text 87726.

I had a text from Cleardebt yesterday too, it had the option of texting "STOP" which I did, and they sent a very polite reply saying they'd received it and would not contact me again. I have to say I was a bit surprised they would contact people in this way.

I had never heard of Michael's tip before, so I will do that one in future!
Final payment 1st April 2016.
Completion Certificate received 19th May 2016.

Hi Guys, although this isnt in my remit and im currently out of the office, I will ensure that this is fully investigated. I know the standards that ClearDebt adapt and they would be horrified at something like this and will conduct a full investigation.

One thing I would bear in mind is we have in the past had companies trying to pass off being ClearDebt, when they really arent! Nevertheless I have forwarded this to David and he will ensure it is looked in to as a priority!

I hope you are all well

Well just about to start to watch Im a Celebrity at 9.05pm and my phone goes off in a text, Daniel Drowning in Debt? Cleardebt can reduce your monthly payment or help you write off much of what you owe. Reply INFO for details or STOP to Opt out, as someone lucky enough to have never been in debt management with a top credit rating I was somewhat surprised not by the text but them knowing my name, not annoyed just curious.

I think it is important to know where the original source of these texts is coming from, and which companies are selling on data inappropriately.

Be careful when opting out of these text message type cold callers as sometimes all opting out does is confirms your number as active making it more valuable to sell on.

Delete them. Any reply at all is a bonus for them.

I also got the same text the other day. At first I thought it was a coincidence but now I'm not sure. I also think its when the creditors have passed on info to debt collection agencies that these texts appear.

Useful link Lesley.
