S spoke to this company tonight who insist they must come to my house for me to sign the relevent paperwork? The meeting lasts 45mins and i will be contacted tomorrow with the name of the advisor who is coming friday!
I asked both cleardebt and DRSP if its necessary for them to come to my house and both have said I must to comply with claiming back the ppi. I am really unhappy about this I feel i havr been backed into a corner. Has anyone else heard from cleardebt about this?
wqe did not have to have any one come to our house they just sent out authority forms for us to sign stick to your guns tell your ip you are not comfortable and ask them to send forms for you to sign you will still be complying but just in a way that makes you more comfortable
I agree with 4kids - you do not have to have anyone sent to your house.
This is the first time I have heard of anyone having to come out to see you.
You have to comply with the claiming back but stick to your guns and ask them to send the papers to you. Tell them there will be nobody at home on Friday to see the advisor.

We were in the same situation but were told we had to comply. The gentleman came to our home and was absolutely lovely. He did not judge us at all. We were also very wary of the home visit but it was not a problem in the end.
Perhaps Mr Mond does not want to waste time with people thinking that they have rights and is instead sending the lads around to make sure you sign everything that is required?

Ah this whole ppi thing is getting out of hand now!! Does the IP think they have authority to send people round to your home now?!!! Disgraceful! How much lower will they stoop for financial gain!!
If anyone is concerned about the "home visit" approach they should contact David Mond directly to express their views. David, as Chairman of the Debt Resolution Forum, would not be doing anything he has not thoroughly checked out as proper procedures, however he is a gentleman who is always willing to listen to client feedback and if you are genuinely unhappy about having a stranger call to your home - and I can understand that - there can probably be an alternative process to consider.
As I said earlier, Mel, there is no reason (unless David can clarify) why a home visit is required. Apart from the fact that the IP already has ( or should have) all the details, every other firm manages without such visits. If they are causing distress, which it seems they are, then an alternative should be offered, rather than threatening non-compliance ( a term which is getting quite an airing these last few months).
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

I'm sorry Mel but this is disgraceful! Gentleman or no gentleman the scaring tactics need to cease, a standard approach adopted and the respect to all those who have entered such an arrangement in order to pay back as much as possible be appreciated! I cannot believe such is now going on! Perhaps David Mond and any others only need to read the distress this is causing to posters on this forum and elsewhere!! It's truly dismal!!!
Mr Mond has many supporters, and he has I understand it done much for the industry both for IPs and debtors alike. That said, from my personal experience, i have found him to be a bully, not afraid to use intimidating tactics to achieve his goals.
In this case no doubt he can blame the third party, the claims managment company, however he is vicariously liable for any wrong doing by any agent acting for him.
It is deplorable that he (or at least his agents) are now forcing home visits, telling debtors that they must comply!

I hope that David reads this post and is able to offer his own thoughts directly to clients of ClearDebt. I will make sure this is brought to his attention.
The purpose of the home visits is simply to speed up the process.
As lots of people on this forum will testify, the claims process seems to take an eternity with certain creditors looking for any excuse to delay settling a claim.
This process (of home visits) will reduce any further requests for information and improve the quality of what is submitted to creditors -the same process is used by most IVA providers in collecting documentation at the outset of an IVA.
Poppy - I'm glad to hear positive feedback about the gentleman who came to visit you.
Heretoday - I won't be baited by your continual derogatory remarks about me and ClearDebt save as to say that it would help if you and/your solicitor respond to correspondence (and which I have been waiting for several weeks for) and it would also be fair and equitable if you agreed to allow me to post all information (you have been selective in your dissemination in regard to the facts and issues relating to your case on all of your forum posts) so all could see the truth relating to your case.
Reesay - email Tom O'Connor in the experts section who will sort this out for you.
I hope others will appreciate that we are doing this (home visits) to help all of our clients and would reserve judgment.

I can appreciate what you are saying about this but some clients, especially those living with family who know nothing of their situation, really don't want this.
In these instances, is it possible to do it via the post? May take a while I know but at least the client is happy.
