Hi we are newbies (myself and hubby) to the forum although we have been following the site for a good few weeks now and I have to say what a GREAT site, everyone is soooo nice, genuine and helpful, we are very glad we found this and at the right time as we'd only just started seeking professional help. After contacting 3 different debt help companies (which we read to do on here) we have decided to go with Mel and her team, up to now I have spoken to Tina and Claire and I must say aswell as being friendly, helpful and profesional the option of being able to contact them in the evenings/weekends is absolutely fantastic especially for us as we both work full time an find it difficult to have personal calls at work so this is fantastic, thank you mels team.
We are approx 50k in debt, some being joint, we have got into this debt over numerous years but mainly from 2008 as we were both made redundant, hubby in the Sept then me just before the christmas and hubby was out of work for nearly 2 years, along with the stupidness of us spending on things thats not needed but this is the point we are at now and omg when we did a soa we were very shocked and I just burst onto tears, our outgoings were way beyond the income, I can certainly say we have learnt a valuable lesson from this. We have decided to go down the iva route with Mel, we also decided that even though we are very embarrassed and ashamed about our debt and letting ourselves get in this situation we are not going to hide if from family and friends because if any of them are in a similar position or seem to be heading there then hopefully they will pluck the courage to get help sooner rather than later, and since us telling people, well, lets just say a few skeletons have come out of the closet ha ha.
Luckily for us, family members have offered us a lump sum so we are going to try and do a full and final IVA and I have finally managed to send all the requested documents to Mels team today (after having a nightmare with the estate agents for a house valuation and panicking as I was going in hospital for my 4th operation today) Fingers crossed it is all there and I havent missed anything. We are so nervous and scared about the whole process just like I have read about most other people at this stage, im sure its normal, I just cant help worrying about what will happen if it all gets refused etc. Well thats our story so far, it would be loevely to hear if anyone else has done full and final iva and any advice on thr pocess and how long roughly it takes would be great, and thank you to everyone whos posts I have read so far there is some great advice on here. Deb & Greg

Hi dlovesg. Welcome to the forum. You are in great hands with Mel's team, so they are sure to pick up on anything you may have missed. Mel's posted about success regarding very challenging cases, so be assured she'll do her absolute best for you both. I hope you are well on your way to a swift recovery following your recent operation. Good luck. x

Hi dlovesg
I'm sure everyone went through the same emotions, shock dread fear and so on(i know we did) but having been reading this forum for a while now Mel's team gets really good reviews. But most important an IP wont put forward a case unless they thought it would be approved.

Good luck with your case you made the biggest step realising the problem and acting on it.

Welcome from me too...we told our immediate family and friends and for us it was the best thing we did as it enabled us to have full support for the duration of our IVA which ended in a full and final offer being accepted due to the generosity of my mum.

You have chosen an excellent firm to represent you and i sincerely hope in a few weeks time you will be in a position where your offer is accepted by creditors.

Good luck and stay on the forum ....we are here to help. Hope your operation went well and your recovery is a swift one.

Good luck with everything.
This site helps me on a daily basis. It's my new addiction ( and costs nothing ). Don't think there's much (if anything) you can't find out on this forum.
Good to know others are in the same position even when it seems like its only you. Great support & advice.
Seems like you have friends on here without even knowing then. Good luck again x

Hi jeano, its become my addiction aswell, I think my hubby is getting worried thinking im chatting on dating sites ha ha (only joking) but I certainly agree this site is very helpful and its becoming my rock and helping me keep my sanity, its certainly reassuring knowing your not alone with debt, and hi Hyperdrive, thank you for the warm welcome, it would be very interesting to go through a f & f with you, are you already in an iva or just starting with the f&f? Also wishing you the best of luck.

Think I'd rather follow this forum than a dating website dlovesg. Ha ha. Before I found this site I thought we were the only ones in this position.
After all the worry we went through at the beginning I can now see a light at the end of the tunnel ( all be it just a glimmer )
I almost feel that this forum is now a life line for me as well as an addiction. But SOOO much better than an addiction that costs money ( which I don't have ).

We are just getting our proposal with Mel drawn up, and we too are wondering about the possibility of a F&F. In a moment of despair my husband told my parents of our plight a few months back. I was furious that he'd told them but they have been very supportive and even offered to pay our debts (till they found out the extent of them, and realised that what they could raise was nowhere near).
It is a possibility though that they would have enough for a F&F now we are going into an IVA.

Hi diovesg, good luck from me too. You're lucky to have found this site at the right time. I didn't find it until last year, it's the only forum I've ever been on and I think it must be a bit addictive as when I sit down in the evening I wonder "What's going on on the forum"
Life after IVA is wonderful.

You get so involved in the lives of people you've never met, but it's as if you've known them for ages.
