Hi, I am nearing the end of my IVA with freeman jones (I have 4 payments left) and have a ppi claim gong through with Think Claim on their recommedation. I have phoned up twice to check the progress and each time been told they are waiting for a reply from my creditors. First time I was told they have to reply n 8 weeks - left it 8 weeks rang back and got told the same again. It is now getting close to the 8 weeks and I am about to ring. If they have got no further what are my options? I desparatly want this to go through so as to allow my IVA to close.

Many IP's are proposing variations to allow IVAs to close with PPI pending. Have a word with Freeman Jones, I am sure they can enlighten you.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

Hi jonjo ,
Im also with freeman jones , I started the ball rolling in November last year for ppi as I also don't want anything to hold up the closure . I have spoken to think to claim a couple of times and asked for updates . I think the problem is that there is too many people claiming and the work involved must be a nightmare .
This doesn't help us though , all I would say is keep calling and e-mailing them as you want your iva journey to be over .
Keep us posted and good luck .

so pleased you are reaching the end of your IVA. The PPI issue is causing some delays in closure process at present, in some firms - not all. Unfortunately there is very little you can do to speed the process up. Continue to call them for updates and liaise with your IP is the best advice I can give...I am hoping that it will be resolved for you very soon so that you can really focus on your debt free life.

Thanks for the replies, its just so annoying that when you ring they just keep fobbing you off. If the law states a response time of 8 weeks for a firm I dont understand how they can still be waiting for a reply 14 weeks later?
I rang again last night and was agian told they need to reply within the NEXT 8 weeks, this would bring it to a minimum of 22 weeks! I started this process in august, I assumed it would be dealt with inside of a couple months. I am also getting a bit worried about my 6 monthly reviews.... they seem to be taking 6 months to prepare, in fact last time I got given 2 in one go it had taken so long. Should I take this to mean my IVA may not be closed for 6 months or so after completion?

Dear jonjo1978

I am sorry you are experiencing a delay in the PPI investigations relating to your IVA.

In the most cases PPI investigations are concluded in plenty of time so as not to interfere with the successful conclusion of your IVA.

Your Insolvency Practitioner keeps a close eye on any delays in issuing your completion certificate and will take a common sense approach if any delay is beyond your control.

We are in most cases able to provide a completion certificate within 4-6 weeks of your final review however this can vary depending on the case and the nature of any outstanding issues (if any).

If you drop me an email to sarah.jolly@freemanjones.com with your reference I will look into your case and be more specific.

I hope this helps and look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks Sarah, I will drop you an email tonight with my details on it.
I do appreciate it as Freeman Jones on the whole have been very good, it is only over the last year and a half I have noticed some issues with delays.

I have had an update thanks to Sarah. We are still waiting on one company responding after which time they should be able to close my claim.

Goes to show these forums work, and the staff at freeman jones seem to be better than most at dealing with issues when you raise them!

Hi jonjo1978,

Totally agree with you. My IVA was with Freeman Jones (completed back in 2011) and they were excellent at every step of the way. Credit where its due! :-)
