Apologies if this has been asked a million times...
My IVA completed 2 years ago. I (probably stupidly) just tried to forget all about it, and put the whole thing to the back of my mind.
As time has gone on I've started to become more and more frustrated with my Basic HSBC Bank Account. So I thought it might be time to "move on" (LOL) and look at the possibility of getting a new current account with a Debit Card (mebbies even a Credit Card for hiring a car).
I checked my credit file on Experian, and my scores is high (974) and all IVA creditors etc have definitely been removed, clean as a whistle:) However, I do appreciate there is more to it than just having a good score on Experian.
Anyways, does anyone have any advice on how to proceed? Would it be sensible to just apply for a new account (there are links from the Experian Website with recommendations) with a random bank?
Is there any accounts that would be recommended?
Any advice is very much appreciated??
Thanks in advance.[8D]
EDIT - what a long winded way to ask a simple question - hahahaha[:D]

Try an application with a bank that was not involved in your IVA - banks are required to keep information about accounts etc for a minimal 6 years after the accounts has closed - so they may have your IVA listed somewhere. The credit score isn't really worth worrying about - as each lender has their own criteria. Depending where you live in the country there are also credit unions/building societies that offer full accounts - even Metro bank if you live within the M25 area
Hi Searla, congratulations on completing your IVa and it being a thing of the past, now all you need to do is have the bank account sorted and you/re on your way. Hope you get one sorted soon. Aproaching a bank that was never involved in your IVA is a good idea owever if your file is clear it should not be a problemv now. Let us know how you get on so other in the same position know which ones to go for and give a miss!

I'm hanging fire just yet, as following the advice from "12 Months to Go", I've noticed that Equifax have still listed a Notice of Correction on my file, which, as it turns out, will make the automatic application for credit impossible. I've asked for this to be removed, so hopefully I'm nearly there...
Thanks again for the great advice....
