Hugely distressed, just picked up an email saying our F&F hasn't been accepted. A contributions based IVA is now being suggested but we have been struggling as if we were already in an IVA for over 10 years now and I don't know that that I can live another 6 years like this till I retire, which is why my Mum was going to gift us the money. I don't know whether we would be better off going bankrupt or what.

Disappointed not to have any proper feedback too.

Sorry to hear that Debt tired but we got exactly the same - an email stating no and a suggestion that we just cannot commit too - everyone on here says that just because your in an iva does not mean your life gets put on hold!! with this suggestion it means exactly that!! I personally think bankruptcy for 3 years is now the way forward and the creditors will dip out massively because they will get a big fat zero!!

Sorry to hear that debt tired. Has your IP said they will contact you to discuss?

I would take advice to decide whether the IVA or Bankruptcy would be best for you. Please don't be disheartened, there will be a solution.

Im shocked that i just got an email with a suggestion that is unrealistic! like you say no feedback just an email - i have 4 children and my eldest knows what weve been proposing as we have had to discuss the issue of very limited funds for the children over the next few years in regards to everyday life and birthdays and christmas's - he is 11 years old and even said they are very silly to say no as going bankrupt they will get nothing - surely some money is better than no money!! if an 11 year old can work that out why cant they?? x

I'm shocked that we have just been left to get on with it. I would have thought a call to discuss things would have been more appropriate.

I am sorry that both of you feel disappointed with our efforts, or that you feel that we have not conveyed the opinions of creditors to you properly. I have actually spent a large amount of time on both cases this afternoon.

I don't want to discuss the ins and outs of your individual cases on a web based forum. That would not be fair on either of you - your cases are both very different, as are the reasons for the creditors rejections.

I believe that my colleague has actually spoken to both of you at length, but if this is not the case then I will call you personally over the weekend. Please let me know.

We do try our very best for all of our clients, and have done so in both cases. No-one is going to leave either of you to "get on with it", but at the end of the day there is only so much that we can do, and we cannot persuade creditors who are rejecting to change their minds if they don't want to.

We have tried to suggest ways for you to consider compromising on - but neither of you should agree to accept something that you know is either beyohd your affordability, or that you feel is unfair. And we would never suggest something that would extend you more than you would be required to pay under bankruptcy proceedings.

Mine came through at 4 o'clock but only picked it up tonight as at 4 o'clock I gave up sitting by the phone, refreshing the computer every few minutes, foolishly thinking no news was good news. If I'd seen it I would have phoned the office, but have got to sit stewing all weekend now.

No you don't. We don't operate a Monday to Friday service, and I will call you tomorrow to discuss this further. Please let me know what time would be suitable after 11am.

This was not meant as a criticism of you or your team Mel and we are grateful for your efforts on our behalf. We have not been spoken to at length however, just a short call from Marc straight after the meeting mentioning a couple of concerns the creditors had, and another earlier this week saying that he was passing it on.

Please do phone as we would like to know the details, and discuss what our next move should be.

We've actually spent a long time discussing the issues today - but I did not see the outgoing e-mail - although I am sure I know the contents as we were working on this together. I will call you late morning if this is convenient.
