After intervention from Mel last week I got a call from Nathalie in customer Services at GT.

She told me that GT were satisfied that I did not claim PPI and that I could sign a waiver that would be in the post in a couple of days - NOT RECEIVED.

I was told I still needed to sign the variation paperwork as it covered VAT (even though I had never been told there was a VAT issue). They told me the paperwork had been posted - NOT RECEIVED.

I was told that I had been miss-informed (lied to) in November and that my dividends had not been calculated so could not be paid. I was told I would get an update in a couple of days with a final payment date - NOT RECEIVED.

I have e-mailed both customer services and closures 3 times this week and not had a single reply.

What are we supposed to do?

I despair for you I am fed up. This has been going on for far too long and warrants a formal complaint. It's ridiculous that you are not being given the correct information and left none the wiser re: your final payment date. Enough's enough. A formal complaint may not hasten their actions, but may possibly provoke positive change to customer care if enough of you do the same. Sorry I can't offer anything else. x

I got this from Nat this morning, rang number got through first time after 3 rings almost unheard of at GT

"However, I can confirm that due to the evolving process concerning PPI, the option to opt out is available if you are certain that no such claim exists. A declaration of no claim form will require your signature to verify that you have no claim and will therefore not be pursuing this now of in the future. My PPI Support team are utilising this and you will therefore be required to speak with them on 0800 669 6091 to complete a few checks and arrange for the declaration of no claim to be issued. Alternatively, if you can provide me with a suitable time to contact you, I can arrange this with the team."

I didn't even get the standard we will get back to you within 10 days email as a reply from closures. I don't think they love me any more.

If I don't hear from them on Monday I will be emailing Mark Allen direct and if I don't get a satisfactory reply it will be a complaint to the regulator. Feel really sad that its come to this.

Karoo, would you like to comment?

I suggest that people getting these opt out forms ensure they read them carefully to ensure that the small print doesnt somehow allow ppi to be chased up even though you are opting out!!

That said rsm tenon managed to chase up ppi even when I hadnt given permission or spoken to anyone about it. Fruitless task for them as there was none!!!

Glad it wasted an ambulance chasing firms time!

Got the opt out form today signed and sent back compared to GT forms this one was simple in its wording.

1) That to the best of my knowledge i have no PPI to claim
2) I will not now or in the future be claiming PPI.

Then long winded section making the usual failure to sign this will be a breach and fail your IVA etc etc.
Well it wouldnt be a Grant Thornton Letter if it did'nt try to bully and frighten you at least once.

BTW the 0800 669 6091 number seems to direct to the office and they answer within seconds every time ive used it one well worth keeping in your diary.

Well finally had a reply yesterday and wasn't great to be honest been advised that my case was passed to the closure team last month (thats despite me being told last nov/dec my case was with the closure team!!!), only 13 months after I made my final payment!!, and then went on to say the closure process can take up to 6mths!!!!, that's what I was told Feb last year!!!!, so its looking like it will be about 20 months in total!!!!!!
