Funny you should have this topic as i was also thinking about the same things yesterday we are going to get some paint and try to do one room at a time...But i doubt my washing machine or tumble dryer will last 5 years so getting something saved is going to have to happen or else we will be sitting in a very shabby home... ..Up until now we have had nothing surplus every month we use every penny we are allowed..
I'm due to have my house valued for the equity clause in a few months. The value will be touch and go as to whether or not I will get caught by the extra 12 months in lieu of equity clause so when I look at the peeling paint etc. I'm hoping it will help me out by suppressing the valuation. Every cloud as they say!
Thanks for all your replies, we have tried car bOots with kids toys etc but didn't make any money, after two of the kids birthdays in the next month we might try and get a couple of tins of paint before the summer. I know what you mean about the valuations in the last year but the house will look extremelt shabby then. We keep dreaming of a family holiday in the summer after iva finishes but in reality the iva money will need to be spent on the house for a good few months, we can dream of a bit of sun! X
