Hi all,

Just after some advice. Ive been with direct line for over 10 years, have 9 years+ no claims. Got my direct line renewal quote today which has almost doubled! Presently paying £20 a month, now they want £37. Have been on go compare and have had quotes similar to what have i paid previously to direct line. Only problem is the credit check which i will fail. Any one had any joy changing to another insurer when in an IVA.

Thanks

We found a company called 1st central on one of the compare websites. They were the cheapest & had no problems with paying monthly
Good luck on your search

The credit check may be just to verify you exist and are registed on the electoral roll.
Last Payment - November 2011 - Completion Certificate received 2 weeks after last payment, Removed from Insolvency Register within 4 weeks after last payment.

Try Swindon insurance. They find you a good price and do ask if they can perform a credit check. I said no to the check and got a brill price which I pay monthly. Good luck x

We had the same problem with kwik fit, we couldn't find another insurer to take us on monthly payments but we went with lv and paid in full last year, this year the renewal has come out the same as last year and they have allowed us to go on monthly payments

I insured with Swinton last year on the high street. When I went in the first thing I said was 'I am in an IVA and will need to pay monthly if this is a problem then I will go now'. They were fine. BUT when I tried to get house contents insurance with Admiral they said they could'nt insure me coz of the IVA (it was only £9 p/m) My car insurance is £76 p/m!! Doesn't make sense does it. They said they don't ask the IVA question for car insurance!.

Hmm, I'm about to press the button and go with 1st Central..BUT I've noticed this on the finance agreement:
Termination:
We may, subject to sending you any statutory notices required by law, terminate this Agreement if you:
(i) fail to make any payment due under this Agreement within14 days of its due date;
(ii) do not set up your direct debit instruction to make the payments due under this Agreement or you cancel your direct debit instruction;
(iii) breach any of your other material obligations under this Agreement;
(iv) provide any information in connection with your loan application which is false;
(v) have a bankruptcy petition or order presented against you (or its equivalent in Scotland) or have execution levied against any of your assets; or
(vi) propose or enter into a voluntary arrangement with your creditors.

Now technically I cant propose or enter a voluntary agreement as I'm already in one....will that wash?

I'm with hastings for my car insurance and Policy Expert for my house insurance and have changed most years and paid monthly without a problem. I always renew online.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Sorted my wife's out with Swinton, told them about the IVA, no problem. £5 a month more than last yr but with slightly better cover and £40 cashback to come so all in all, quite happy with that.
