Our IVA was finalised on 11th August last year and we are STILL WAITING

Have emailed Karol on a couple of occasions, have phoned no less than 10 times loads of excuses and very rude staff who do not get back to you, I know I did the crime but I have paid all my payments on time and this is now ridiculous. Last payment 1st June so almost 12 months what is going on, we were told at beg of March all creditors needed to have their claims in by end of March, so what on earth is going on.

Sick to death of it now it is worse than a life sentence still having a hold over our lives.

So all of you out there expect some sort of completion after 1 year.
I thought there were rules on how long these things could take, we have been on the insolvency register now for almost an extra year plus the hold on our property. Disgraceful

Hi vinnie just replied on the topic (closure of GT)and i did mention that alot of people are still waiting a very long time and was concerned that i will be waiting just as long. but when they looked at my case notes and talking on the phone i recieved an email confirming what we spoke about on my individual case and i was told all the process was working ok and the review was being done now and as such would inform me, if any problems where noticed so will wait till end of may and see. it seems a little crazy you have been waiting this long but may be it is something that has come up in your case that is holding it back. i would write to your IP direct and ask what the hold up is. at the end of the day thay are the ones who are in charge of your case etc.

goodluck

THanks for the reply, not sure I ever had an IP there as it was taken over from Blair endersby in the May, so never even had a name of an IP, I had an email reply that it had been escallated about 3 weeks ago and have sent various emails since, my husband spoke to them about 3 months ago and was told they had sent out letters and all responses needed to be in by end March, not sure I believe a word they say and am tending to think this closure team are a figment of their imagination, we are still on insolvency register and basicly it looks like our file has been filled in the bin. just got through on a call back so will update later

ok well sounds like you have had a nightmare. if you get to speak to someone at GT ask which IP is dealing with your IVA case, GT only have two IVA IPs.

good luck

Well have just been told that due to an error on their part they paid us back 600 and we had to return it, they received this in October, so the closure did not commence until december.???? so it will be completed 16th june not sure of the relationship between october and december are but must be some connection in Ireland. My husband explained the mix up about 3 months ago to them that they had returned a payment to us in August and again in September so we had to return it to them, but the last payment was June. They dont take notice of anyone obviously.

I have contacted the FSA today and been advised to contact the ombudsman, who in turn advised give them 5 weeks from my first email to which I have not had a response, which was 3 weeks ago, so 2 weeks from now we had better have some movement. The service is appalling with the right not knowing what the left is doing. From doing a really good job for me last year to this is horrendous and I am going to delete my good post regarding them.

Hi guys i was reading on your post vixster and i finished mine on the 29th of march and i also questioned why its taking so long after i was told it would take six months! i was told the following via email from GT.
The closure of an IVA takes 6 months to complete in order that all administration can be finalised accordingly.

As part of this process, Grant Thornton is required to complete a final review to ensure all contributions have been received accordingly, all Income and Expenditure reviews completed as required and all assets realised in line with your proposal.

Following this review, a final review of all creditor information is required - correct creditor details, Claim received etc.
Where claims are outstanding, we are required to give creditors sufficient time to complete a Proof of Debt form and return.

Once all claims have been agreed, a final distribution will be calculated and any remaining costs of the IVA paid.
The Final Report is drafted and passed for review. Once the draft report has been reviewed and returned to the team, a request will be made for the IVA bank account to be closed, and cheques raised for creditors.

On receipt of the Final cheques, they are attached to each creditors copy of the Report and posted accordingly to all.

The recent VAT tribunal caused some serious delays with out process, initially standing at 3 - 6 months. Unfortunately due to guidance from our regulators a hold was placed on closing IVA's until decided the impact this would have. Approximately 6 to 8 weeks after this hold was placed, a decision had been reached and closures resumed as normal albeit significantly behind.

If we are in a position to close your IVA sooner, this is our intention however our current experience deems the 6 month timescale accurate.

i still feel this six months is a way to long time span after the final payment was made, as you say not many other companys take this long!

Alex do you mean 2012 as if it's only a month you may want to allow a little longer before filing a complaint.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
