My IVA with Grant Thornton was supposed to complete last April 2012 (everything went smoothly - all payments made).

Still not got a completion statement and have already chased closures and Karol via here.

However my question is as it's over 6 years since default will my credit files start cleaning up automatically from about May 2013 or will nothing happen until I finally get a completion statement from GT and send it to the credit reference agencies?

Thanks you any help.

The defaults should start to fall off after 6 years regardless of the IVA still being in place but your file will not be totally clear until your name comes off the IVA register.

Hi Ian and welcome to the forum

Your credit files ought to start to clear up once the sixth year anniversary has passed, but clearly getting the completion certificate will help. Do you know what is holding this up?

Hi Melanie,

I suspect EIC and PPI claims stuff - although I told EIC over a year ago in writing there was nothing to claim they have continued to bombard me with paperwork and phone calls.

I'm guessing I'll just have to wait my turn given all the stuff I've read about delays with GT on this forum but as you can probably gather I'm very unhappy about this as anxious to start clearing things up now and getting on with my life!

I would definately contact them to see exactly what the hold up; is, and what timescale you can expect your case to be closed by. ~Even if there is a backlog, there should be a progression schedule they are working to.

I'm in the same boat as you - my last payment was in April 2012, and I've been waiting for the CC.

I do check my credit file regularly to make sure that it is clearing itself automatically, and it is doing. The only one left is the IVA status, and that won't disappear until the CC has been issued!

I've emailed GT at the weekend for a status on my CC and haven't yet received a response, so will give it a couple more days before I chase.

Well well well, GT replied to my chasing e-mail the day after I sent it. They have promised my Completion Certificate within 6-8 weeks and that there is nothing holding it up now.

A well done for a prompt response and fingers crossed I can finally start to move on.

Great result Hunter1, lets hope GT can hold up to the 6-8 week statement.
Last Payment made 04/12/14. Completion Certificate 25/7/15. IVA company GT. No Issues

Seems that things are now starting to move in the GT closures department. I am sure a lot of their clients will be happy to note this.
