These creditors will not usually be a problem so not really a concern there. Earlier you mentioned Sainsburys and Halifax who are linked via the Bank of Scotland.

Hi Michael Peoples. Thanks for that! When you say not a problem, you mean they normally agree proposals?

Are Sainsburys still linked with Halifax? I thought they were a bank in their own right? I know Tesco was affiliated with RBS but are now an official bank.

One other question, I have outstanding debt with M&S on a credit card - my car insurance is with them. Will they void it if I enter an IVA or default on payment with them? How is obtaining insurance in the future? I have home and car.

THANKS SO MUCH everyone!!!!!

Hi limecocopop - welcome to the forum.

As Michael says, GE Money and Creation are not known to be dfficult creditors when voting as long as, in al cases, the proposal put forward is fair and reasonable. I have now know of issues for clients around M&S Bank with HSBC even though they are owned by them - other posters may have a different experience.

Ask as many questions as you like - that is what we're here for and if it realy is one for your IP we'll advise you to go back to them.

Lomecocopop.
I think Sainsburys Bank is a joint venture between Sainsburys and the Bank of Scotland but this may have changed so hopefully someone can let us know for sure.

Your insurance will be fine because the insurance company who underwrite the policy will have nothing to do with the credit card side. You can still shop around in the future while in an IVA but for the best results save your allowances so you can pay for th full year up front. This avoids a credit check and also gets a discount.

Thanks guys, really helpful. I always tend to pay upfront for my insurance anyway so that should be fine then? Obviously if they ask about an IVA, I will be honest.

Would be good to know for sure about Sainsburys bank, I'm sure I had a letter a few months back, but just shredded it - oops.

Tina Shortland, did you say you HAVE NOT KNOWN OF ANY ISSUES with M&S Bank and HSBC?

Yes limecocopop (albeit I typed 'now' by mistake! is that the reason for the capitals??!) - I have not known of any issues with M&S bank due to it being owned by HSBC - thats not to say there arent any which is why I say other posters may have a different experience.

Yeah because of the typo I just wasn't sure of whether you had heard of problems between the two, or hadn't! Just seeking clarification, I get it now!

Definitely, living life in email, social media etc - all the written word - can lead to many-an-assumption, normally incorrect because the recipient can't sense your tone!

My only tone here is one of gratitude for all your help and advice [:)]
