Hi folks

Hope everyone is ok. I'm new to this forum and could do with some much needed advice.

It all started around 7-8 years ago when I was taking out loans and credit cards because I was young and stupid when I realised I couldn't keep up the payments I took out an IVA with Debt Free Direct this was 6 years ago. The contract I'd signed was for 60 payments plus a possible extra 6 months for closure.

I'd made all 60 payments my last payment being in September 2012 nearly 12 months on I still don't have my completion certificate. I've spoken to Debt Free Direct who say they are ready to complete they're just waiting for Equity in Finance to chase up any outstanding PPI claims. So I've spoken to Equity in Finance who were quite rude and told me last month their process could take a further 6-9 months (from when I spoke to them).

I do have a letter dated 01. October 2013 from DFD stating all payments have been received and that my case has been forwarded to the closure team.

Is it normal for completion to take up to a possible 18 months after the final payment? I signed the contract to say the whole process could take 5 years plus 6 months for closure would it be worth me getting legal advice with regards to the closure period? Or should I just wait for Equity in Finance to complete their PPI claim process?

I'd like to get on with my life and this is holding me back as I wouldn't be able to get credit until 6 months after I get the certificate of completion. I want to get this IVA over and done with I know I've completed the payments but it doesn't feel like I'm over the finishing line yet.

Also if anyone has any direct email addresses (ideally the closure team/department) instead of the customer support email address that would be great.

Any help or advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Many thanks in advance

Abz

Contact Judith from DFD whose details can be found in the experts section. She has a lot of happy customers lately and perhaps you could be next.

Hi and welcome to the forum. The PPI issue is certainly raising a few posts and Michael gives good advice above re contacting Judith if you so wish. Having completed your payments etc it does appear to be unfair to have to then wait x amount of months/years for closure.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Im seriously hoping this does not happen to me... EIF have just sent me a load of paperwork that is basically asking me to make claims against PPI that I have never had nor do I believe that i ever had it... Surely this is illegal?
Last Payment on Jan 5th 2016!

Hi Abz and congratulations on having completed your IVA, I know the frustrations that you are experiencing regarding closure from DFD, it seems to me they have employed a company who they obviously DON't communicate with as this has be an on-going problem for well over a year. I would write a letter of complaint to your IP, if you get no-where then use their complaints procedure and so on, this isn't acceptable, Judith will help you as much as she can but the crux is that DFD who engaged this company now need to be kicking some A%$*!!!!!
Om shanti, namesté, good luck to all who are embarking on the IVA journey, it isn't always an easy one but the outcome is the best.

IVA COMPLETED August 2012, received Completion certificate 18.4.13.

I know how you feel about DFD and their remarkably slow closure procedure. I've been waiting 10 months for my CC, and as a result of me pestering them for answers I have been promised weekly updates concerning my case. Only problem is that they're still telling me exactly the same thing as what they were telling me six months ago and I'm no nearer to getting any definitive information.
Not one word from my IP since my last payment- all corespondence is from their customer services department. If I'm still in the same position next week I'm reporting my IP to his regulator for his elusiveness and lack of communication.
