Hi, we were lucky enough to end our iva early after having a full and final settlement figure agreed in October 2012. We were told that it would take up to 6 months to receive the completion certificate....

It is now September 2013 and we still have not received it [:(] despite numerous phone calls. Every time I call I am told it is in the final stages and will be with me in the next few weeks. Each time we get to the promised date surprise surprise no certificate! I am starting to feel like it is never going to arrive and each time I call am told the same thing and just fobbed off.

Can anyone advise is it normal to take this long? (we are with Grant Thornton)... Is there anything more we can do to get the certificate any sooner? Was hoping to have it way before now and put the whole iva experience behind us. Any advice much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi
We are in much the same situation as yourselves in place and time.

I'm afraid where Grant Thornton and Completion Certificates are concerned, its a case of when your time comes, your time comes.
It makes no difference if you have paid your final payment, had a Full and Final, paid all your PPI or are still having PPI investigated, signed the disclaimer form or agreed to sign the MVM letter.
You can make as many calls to the Customer Services Department, email the IVA Closures team (even putting 'IVA Forum' in the heading) and even go through the Complaints Procedure....your time comes when your time comes.
Sorry but I really have nothing positive to say about this problem but I do hope that you hear something soon.
Katy

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I'm glad to know it's not just us in this situation. It's just so frustrating isn't it! Like you say, it doesn't seem to matter how much you call them, it just doesn't get you anywhere. Best wishes, hope you receive your certificate soon too.

GT do seem to drag their heels over completion certificates, unsure why maybe just the volume of work they have taken on! Keep badgering them as often it's he who shouts loudest.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Thanks guys...

we were initially told we would have the certificate in May! I have phoned GT on numerous occasions and each time they've promised lots of different dates and of course it never arrives. The latest date I was given I was told I would have it by "the second week in August at the absolute latest!" Of course it still hasn't arrived. I called GT to complain and ask why and was told we were on a list of around initially 15,000 people and our case is in the remaining 900 still being processed so not to expect it for another 2 to 3 weeks at least!?? Can't believe it's been nearly a year and we are still no nearer. Going to give them a call again today and see what the latest is so will keep you updated. Good luck Sharon.10 we have been in the same situation for months now, hope you are more successful in receiving yours on time without having to constantly ring them.

just an update...rang GT again this afternoon...our case is still with the completions department. The customer services have advised me it could be sent out tomorrow or it could still be weeks away but will have it by the 31st October at the absolute latest.... and no there is nothing we can do to get it any quicker. So frustrating!!! seems it really is a case of you will get it when you get it. I'll believe it when I see it :-(
