I completed an IVA in 2009 and have my completion cert from that date. Imagine my horror on finding out I was still on the Insolvency Register in 2013 showing as active!! I contacted my IP who said, sorry I will get it removed. Two weeks later it is still there and he is on hols. I have been turned down for credit. Very damaging and dishonest to show inaccurate data. Can I do something about this? Thanks.

Complain to your IP and his staff, it's their responsibility to report the correct data.

Have you checked your credit files, is the record of the IVA still on there?

I suspect that your IP has issued their final report to the Registrar, but that for some reason it either did not arrive or the register was not updated correctly. This has happened to clients of mine occasionally, but it is always very easily rectified by sending in a copy. I am afraid that IPs do not have the time nor resource to carry out repeated verification checks of the insolvency register to see if it has been updated accordingly.

It would be far more sensible to allow IPs to update the Register by having suitable log-in details to the system.
