I have a IVA and my overtime has dried up at work and we are struggling , We are not having luxurys we are not even having a Christmas as we just cant afford one so I am willing to look for a few hours doing anything I can find .IF I get a small job on a weekend will this still be classed as overtime ? and come under the 10 50/50 .Because if I don't earn a bit extra then the quality in our life will be dismal .The allowance may give you money for glasses clothes etc but when you have to provide suits for your daily job and you need two pairs of glasses each and other expenses which occur then my overtime which wasn't much but every little helps is sadly missed..

Speak with your IP and see if they can help with a reduction or a break?

I don't want to do that I just want to see if I can earn a bit extra somehow and I am willing to pay the 10 50/50 if I get a break then it makes it even longer the other end ..No matter what has come my way over the last 14 months I have just soldiered on..

It seems like a difficult situation to be in. It is likely that you can get extra work? Would it be with tax and national insurance or cash in hand?

Then this may be viewed differently e.g as an extra income and be included within your Income and Expenditure.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Hi Ruffin I know you dont want to take a payment break and trying to work your problems out thorugh work seems the best way to go but a payment break of 1 month will only add one month on to the end and will give you a little bit of breathing space I have finished my IVA now but had to have a payment break I was like you and wanted to work through it but the break was the best thing I could have done. It is your choice of course but the stress of working the extra hours and trying to cope with IVA payments and life is hard so if you can take for just one month it may help.

If you are struggling to this extent a review of your income and expenditure is needed. Your IP has flexibility in allowing a reduction of up to 15% i believe and i would seek their support ... I fully understand your reasons for not wanting payment breaks, but with the expenses you mention alone I can't see how else you can go.

Saying that ... I just bought a new ladies tailored suit for work off ebay for £11.20 ...brand new with tags ! Worth searching the net !

I asked yesterday and they would take it so its pointless even looking for anything I am not a young man to go working again after my week is done but was hoping it may help us survive a bit better...Not a great incentive as I see it as the same as overtime as it would only have been a trivial type job if I could have found one..Just a few hours..And I would have willingly contributed some of it..Never mind that's one option gone..

I would definitely ask your IP for a review of your I & E and look at the possibility of a reduction in payments.

I understand that an IVA isn't easy but you shouldn't have to struggle like this.

They shouldn't be taking all of any extra job income, as you say where is the incentive. Phone them again and speak to a supervisor this time. At worst the 10/50/50 rule is likely to apply.
I agree that working extra is better than a months break that will just be added to the end.
