We reported GT to the financial ombudsmen last week and have had a letter from them and received a letter today from GT which is clearly a standard reply. I have to day that by phoning and emailing plus reporting them seems to have provoked a response. We should find out tomorrow if we need to go to variation. Kelly in the variations team has been fantastic and it's a shame there is only one of her and that it's taken 6.5 years to find her! My complaint is the same as most people on here, the complete lack of communication from them esp as they work for us as well as our creditors and earn a lot of money for doing nothing! I am happy to participate in a group complaint if that's what you decide.

Mark Allen is no longer at GT, but does do some consultancy work so I understand now.

The Financial Ombudsman cannot hear complaints about IPs and IVAs - I keep telling forum members this on a daily basis, but still this issue gets raised. You must go through the insolvency gateway to the IPs own regulators. Complaints to the Financial Ombudsman are a complete waste of your time as they have no ambit to intervene.

I doubt very much whether a mass complaint would have any weight whatsoever. All cases are individual, with their own set of individual circumstances. I can assure you that the IP take all complaints very seriously, and this route is by far your best bet if you have fully exhausted the internal complaints process.

As a practising IP - I can assure you that all practitioners take complaints about themselves very seriously - and if they don't then the regulators will, and they will take action if action in necessary. Please have faith in the system - I can tell you with complete conviction that it really does work.

Unfortunately Melanie, going by the comments on this forum, GT don't take anything seriously and clearly gave no regard for "the system"

But fortunately our regulatora do - but they can only act if people complain to them, so if you genuinely feel you have grounds for a complaint, and this has not been addressed properly by the firm acting for you, all I can say is the next stage has to be the regulators.

I don't want to encourage complaints about IPs, as I know first hand how they can affect people personally, and none of us can ever be perfect - but to be frank I do wish that this forum could revert back to being a general advisory medium and not full of complaints about PPI and Grant Thornton.

melanie the thing that strikes me as being very odd and somewhat telling is the way gt conducts itself when a client come's to the end of there payments obligation.
now correct me if im out of step but what do you think the percentage of clients on there books are actually at the end of there iva and is therefore passed onto the closures dept?.I bet its a very small proportion compared to people who are still in the full swing of paying through there term.so why does there normal way of doing things which as most people with them say runs very well and you can contact them with the day to day problems that may crop and they deal with them fine.but once you get to the end all communication stops and to top it all they maintain they cannot be contacted by telephone as they say there are none in that department.why?
surely that department wont have thousands of clients to deal with in the closures department so why the problem with not letting people know where they stand.
your company and nearly every other one don't have this problem.also ppi is a reality now and affects all ivas so that should be part of the forum as its the same as any other problem or enquiry that may be asked about.
ivas where prob at one time a bit simpler but nowdays they just get a bit more complicated due to ppi.
and it goes to show with the very limited contact anybody from gt shows to the site since karol was a regular that they just want to keep there heads in the sand a bit more now.
cc received 6th January 2014 now upwards and onwards

Melanie. I have submitted my compaint to the Insolvency Gateway and they have set a 15 working day expectation to START dealing with it, so we'll see if anything comes of it. Sorry for sounding sceptical, but this whole process hasn't inspired me with confidence in the system

Since when? Why have we, as clients of his, not been told that he is no longer acting on our behalf? Why have we not been given the name of our new supervisor? Why are people still getting letters with his name at the bottom? Doesn't this just sum up GT's lack of communication!!!!!!!!! [:(!]

X2,I get the inpression this is not regulated as it should be.

Also, as Mel has said about PPI & G.T if both were not an issue we would not be discussing them on here. No news such as good news.

I think like most. Once you make your final payment that should be it. Nearly 10 mths and still have my IVA[:(!][:(!]

I cant knock the advise that Mel has given on here. But I'm sure we all just want the end to be then end.

Melanie,

Im afriad if the forum reverted back to how you have mentioned the majority of my posts would be null and void as all i am ever concerned about are GT, their terrible service, and the effect PPI delays, and closure delays could have on me and my future.

In hindsight i wish i had gone with another firm.
