hi i received a letter today from a company called carrington enright it simply said to call them urgently regarding a legal issue i need to be aware of,i called the freephone number provided as i was worried i was in some sort of trouble! on contacting them iwas told it was regarding my iva basically this man told me i that i was being ripped off by being in a iva and my debts were not being paid and at end of iva i would still be in debt i told him the iva company i was with had been brilliant and that i was hoping to receive a lump sum shortly from a personal injury claim which i hoped would give me enough to offer a lump sum to pay iva off.i was told it dint work like this and the compensation i would receive would be classed as a windfall and would be taken off me he advised me not to tell iva company of any money i receive as they would take it off me and just line there own pockets and to stop paying into the iva straight away, and not to contact them about the letter as they would just say they were a company that were just trying to get money out of me to go bankcrupt he said this is not the case he works for a company that has been set up by the goverment to investigate the iva company,im at my wits end i dont know if ive done the right thing if ive ended up further in debt than when i started like this company say i have and if im going to lose the compensation i am going to be awarded for a accident i was in before i started iva and made them aware of before i entered into it in the proposal it says im hoping to keep it but doesnt actually say i can should i make my ip aware of this letter or should i keep quiet like this company advise

Total rubbish and send any letters like this to your IP. You are in a legal arrangement with your creditors ratified by the court so do not be worried about some cold caller on the phone!!!!

What Carrington Enright have told you is nothing short of a scam in itself -- they know nothing of your circumstances, are IN NO WAY connected to the Government, and guess whose pockets THEY want to line ?!
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

So infuriating that this sort of letter is still being issued. When we got one (can't remember from whom) I really laid into them on the phone to such an extent that they put the phone down on me!

Please email the details to Mel and Andy - they will sort them out!!

Foggy is quite right - they know nothing of your circumstances and most of the time they just want to help you go bankrupt and charge you a fee for this in addition to the bankruptcy charge.
