Hi Everyone
Hope everyone is well (certainly as well as can be expected)!
Thought I would drop by and say hello to all to say that although I am only two payments into my 60 month term I am feeling so much better and determined to learn from this IVA process, thus far certainly so much for the better. Whilst I cannot say that I don't worry about money anymore I can honestly say that it has lifted such a weight off my shoulders!
But with it brings new obstacles one of which I am encountering at the moment, it is as follows: -
Obviously since I no longer have any credit facilities by way of a credit card my mother and father in law (not knowing my IVA situation) have asked that I/my husband order some collectable books for them from amazon as they do not possess a debit or credit card. My husband and I were still able to do this for them as we used a credit card of my husbands that he doesn't use to order the books. As soon as the books arrived my in laws gave my husband the cash for them which in turn is to pay the full amount off the credit card..
My husband however doesn't have a debit card himself to make the full payment from his own bank account to the credit card and I now wonder if it would be appropriate for me to pay my husbands credit card for him with my debit card using the cash lodged to my bank account given by my in laws. Long winded story I know but basically I don't want to be doing anything that could be construed as being wrong or being in breach of my IVA rules. If I lodged cash that was not mine into my bank account in order to pay a bill for my husband would this then be ok? I'm with McCambridge Duffy is Michael was able to answer perhaps?
Much much appreciated for any advice in this 'technical' matter!
Ps this website is my little solace each day! :)

Can your husband not take the cash to the bank, with the giro slip for the credit card payment and pay it over the counter ?

Hi luluj
Many thanks for reading and replying. In an ideal world that's exactly what we would do but both of us work full time, miles away from the bank and it is shut on our day off at the wkend. Paying it off in full by my debit card means no trips to the bank.

Hi, as luluj says, you should be able to hand the cash and giro slip in at a bank or post office. In future, if they want to do this again, you can order from Amazon using your bank debit card.

Now -- this unused credit card ..... that account ought to be closed or permission sought from your IP to have it. It could well be OK, but the last thing you want is for it to be discovered way down the line and for it to cause problems then.

Thanks Luluj and Foggy for ure replies, much appreciated!
Wud be much easier to say no to our in laws me thinks.
Just to clarify though it is just me solely that is in the IVA, not my husband. It is his credit card that was used to order and pay for the goods. Surely he is not bound by the terms of my IVA and can continue to have, use or not use a credit card if he so wishes? No mention was ever made to me by my IVA company/IP that this could be the case or is it written into my agreement. I'm now worrying big time if that is the case.

Ah right -- sorry -- no, if he isn't in an IVA, he is free to do as he wishes.

I doubt that the IP at McCD would have the time to scrutinise bank accounts to the detail required to bring the transfer to light --- and if they did, you have a perfectly reasonable explanation. They are a pretty realistic bunch there :-)

You are doing nothing wrong and relax. We do not scrutinise bank statements and indeed we rarely ask for them once the IVA is in place. How you spend your money is your own concern and we do not check whether you shop at Lidl or Waitrose!

I know some companies ask for bank statements but we look for wage sips, P60s and the like and only look for bank statements to verify something.
