Hi there. I'm a single dad ( baby lives with his mum ) who has just set up an IVA for my own, personal debt management. I pay maintenance costs to support my son, and this has been factored into my IVA arrangement / agreement. As somebody with severe debt, but who would never shirk my financial responsibility to my child, I am keen to know if I can claim any government aid / financial support given my position of relative hardship. *I pay £125 per month at the present time to support my baby, which is pretty standard in IVA agreements.

Many thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum. I'm unsure of any government aid/financial support available to you but hoping someone else might be able to confirm this for you.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I wish that I could offer you some positive news; however as the non-resident parent or the paying parent, you will not find any government support.
7 years after starting an IVA I finally received a completion certificate from ClearDebt

There isn't any - but as the maintenance has been factored into your IVA as allowable expenditure, and presumably you are paying this at CSA levels, then I would say that you have a fair solution. Are there any other benefits your former partner could claim for to assist her?
