IVA ended in January but on credit report there is a company called Max Recovery that is stating I still owe £900. I am unaware who this company is. Everything has gone in to my IVA.

Hi and welcome to the forum Max Recovery I believe buy debts so it may be that they have bought some of your previous debts. Do you have your completion certificate?
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

They are one of the larger debt purchasers currently in operation, and they should have notified you when the debt was sold on to them.

Does this mean that when a company like Max Recovery buy a debt that is included in an IVA they can then add another default to your credit file?

No - they have to abide by the contract they have with you as a customer, and also the terms of the IVA.

Max recovery have a very good understanding of the IVA process and have shown in other cases that they know "the drill" when the debt they bought is an IVA customers. They should send you a statement each year, this will show the amount of the original debt. Don't worry about that part at all. Once you have your completion certificate inform Max recovery and they will take the steps to clear the default from the credit agencies.
Last Payment made 04/12/14. Completion Certificate 25/7/15. IVA company GT. No Issues

Hopefully this can be sorted soon. I have to say they were brilliant when they sent debt collectors to our address. I showed them my IVA proposal docs and never heard from them again.
