Hi can I ask when do you officially start an IVA is it after the creditors meeting? We had our creditors meeting back on july 30th 2009 and know we paid our first initial payment at the beginning of july, we finished IVA early back in march 2013 and received completion certificate in march 2014. I've looked at one of my credit reports as expecting things to drop off this yr as 6 years on the default dates are wrong on them, some even saying December 2009 and beyond. What is a realistic default date if the meeting of creditors was first held in july 2009 to agree to the IVA and they obviously agreed to it, know the August 2009 payment went into IVA, expect july's payment was for IVA agency for setting up paperwork etc. Going to write to them and try and change date but want to know whats realistically acceptable and not, many thanks

The key date is that of acceptance, in this case July 30th 2009. Good info here, with template to get default dates corrected:

30th July 2009 is your key date .... 30th July 2015 if iva completed and closure certificate received should see your credit files become clear and reference to the iva removed.
Defaults registered after the iva start date should be amended ... write to tge three main credit agencies and seek their support in helping to clear your files ..you may need to send a copy of your completion certificate.
Ensure a notice of correction is not placed on your credit files after the iva has been removed ... if it has request it be removed as it impacts on future credit requests

So is it the three main credit agencies I need to write to to amend the default dates not the individual creditors themselves? Some of the companies have sold my debt on too whilst in the IVA so different default date. Its confusing too as one of credit agencies only has so many of my default credit cards/ loans etc where other two have the full lot. Can the IVA be removed from the history too as is showing on one and think its the notice of correction . Its awful having to go through all this and be reminded of everything but at least its past us now

I thought you had to go to each individual creditor to get the default date right and not looking forward to that as brings back awful memories, if its just the credit ref agencies that is much better

Technically you have to go to each creditor but the CRA's often help. The Notice of Correction will be removed on request, with no hassle.

Try the CRA's first and see what is left to deal with. If the dates left are only a few months out it would be just as well to let them ride.
