Hi I have paid off my iva in january 2 years early with f&f payment straight after I had to move with my job and so rented my mortgaged house to a family friend and had to rent a new house locally which proved a nightmare as iva register still showed me on it and many estate agents would not rent to me as failed all checks etc stressfull time. I wanted to keep my existing house and not sell as the plan was to sell and move to buy new house in new area in 2 years when iva complete. I have my
completion certificate and now are bombarded with credit card requests and upon checking the iva register im not longer on it is this right as thought was on there for the 6 years? What is best way to start repairing history as dont really want to have a credit card as thats how things started in the 1st place just want to be able in a year or so to apply for a mortgage for a new house with 25k deposit

Hi,

It comes off the Insolvency Register within three months but will remain on your credit record for the full six years from the start although should show as completed on there.

You should check all three of them to make sure any defaults have been removed.

If you have a mobile phone contract that will help, as will your mortgage.

You could have one credit card with a small limit on it, use if for petrol for instance and pay it off in full each month.

A small catalogue account would show good repayment history.

Anything which reports to the credit reference agencies will help.

They would count - it's not strictly speaking credit as if you default on the payments your insurance will be gone but it could help.
