My IVA was started Sept 2009, and my last payment was Sept 2014, its now nearly Sept 2015, and i've not had my certificate of completion. The iva people have said they having problems paying last bit of money i paid in, its been a YEAR!? I am wanting to actually move on in my life and get a mortgage so start living again. I've been told by a few financial advisers that without the certificate i am still listed on the iva register so most banks wont touch. Surely this is me being held to ransom by the people i've been paying off?! (AND paid a VERY high percentage of the debt too INCLUDING the PPI they stole from me - which was actually the tipping point that pushed me INTO the iva in the first place)
Sorry for the rant am just at end of my tether being told each month they `still cannot find this last payment but bear with, bear with`.. WHO can actually help get me sorted? I believe the certificate is at the IVA companies discretion ie its THEM stopping issuing it not some other person etc
Complain directly and then immediately complain to the Insolvency Service.
Technically they could extend your IVA by 9 months for admin purposes so you are clearly past that period.
IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.
Unfortunately some companies are dragging their heels in issuing completion letters and some have waited even longer than 12 months!
You are correct in thinking that you will still be on the Insolvency Register - until your IP informs them then it will remain on there. You can check the status for yourself just to make sure.
Keep pestering them - what is this payment they can't find? Is it your last one? If so it should show on a bank statement.

My payments all gone thru and in the `pot` as they put it.. its one of my creditors they saying they been trying to pay but its come back as not picked up or something.. They keep fobbing me off saying they're trying again and it takes a month to update so call back in a month.
I wonder if it is a creditor who has not made a claim - if so then they should be left out of the pot and any money owed distributed between the other creditors.

its fact it says can remain on register 3 months after notification thats gonna be a complete kick in the teeth on top of everything else if i get turned down for a mortgage or something due to this iva companies inability to complete on time

It can stay on for up to three months - some have been lucky enough to come off in a few days, others have to wait the whole time.

Once you get your completion letter it will be updated to 'Completed' which is a step in the right direction!
