we completed our agreed 72 payments in july and I emailed the company dealing with the IVA to ask if it was ok to cancel the standing order.I had no reply so emailed them another 2 or 3 times and received no reply so I cancelled the so .We havent had any contact at all so presumably we have completed but we have not had a discharge letter so how do we know ?
Hi, that is odd that they haven't even bothered to respond to your emails. Why not check the Insolvency register to see if you're on there? https://www.insolvencydirect.bis.gov.uk/eiir/
You should receive a completion certificate to show you've met your side of the agreement and I would keep pestering them for that and for confirmation that your IVA has concluded successfully.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
thanks for the replies we have also had in the last few days letters from a ppi claim with lloyds saying after recalculating our claim they have paid additional funds of nearly £8000 to our insolvency practitioner
It is quite poor not to reply to or even acknowledge correspondence from a client. You should really complain to your IP and threaten to take this to the Gateway if you do not get a proper answer.
Unusual for them - they seem keen to close as many iva as possible and get them off their books.
Make a formal compliant and then complain to insolvency service.
IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.
You need to chase your IP in writing asking them for an update and explanation as to the delay then follow up with a formal complaint if you don't get a satisfactory response. You should not have had to wait this long for an update and should have had a reply to your emails! When your IVA finishes your IP will send you a Completion Certificate and copy of their final report.
