I have just settled my IVA early (18 months into plan). I appreciate that my credit rating will be severely affected for the next 4.5 years but is there anything I can do to start improving it now? Any advice gratefully received.

Hi,

You can check your credit record with all three agencies (Call Credit aka Noddle, Experian and Equifax) Noddle is free as is Clearscore (I think that might be Experian) and see if any creditors have defaulted you after the date of initial IVA. If so then contact the data controller at those creditors with a copy of your completion letter and tell them to remove the defaults.

Sit back then and wait for the IVA to drop off your record.

Kallis,

Are you able to clarify something for me and I imagine many others please ?

My credit file shows all the creditors bound by the IVA showing a single default date which is the date of the start of my IVA, give or take a couple of days.

However, each one then goes on to show defaults for each month that the IVA was live. When the six years are up, do ALL the defaults fall off or do I need to take your good advice re contacting the individual Data Controllers.

Many thanks
SFA

One of my creditors has defaulted every month since the start of the IVA. All defaults need to be removed back to the start date of the IVA. You will probably need to contact the data controllers.

Noddle and Cleardebt are apparently free.
