Hi
My iva has finished, i will be off the insolvency register within 3 months.
My wife and are currently waiting on a payout from her share save and part of a property that will be sold soon (I am owed a minimum of £100000). All in all we should be close to the £30000 deposit, how ever my wife has a loan, should we clear this first? Also what are my/our chances of obtaining a Morgage? Thanks
Have a word with either Shaun or Ryan (details under the expert section on the left hand side of the page) they have been very successful in sorting out mortgages for people on here.

i am four months out of a completed six year iva. i checked my credit files were clear and i applied to natwest myself on the 1st February 2016 for a 2.53% fixed five year remortgage, as an ex iva and also self employed i was told by people that you'll have great difficulty getting a mortgage at a low rate. well tomorrow apparently the mortgage will be completed transferred from bank of ireland. i will let you know if it completes tomorrow as I'm as surprised as most people on here will be. if it does it goes against everything I've been told re getting a mortgage after an iva. oh and they asked " have you entered into an iva or been made bankrupt in the last six years " and i said no as i entered into an iva six years and eight months ago so technically I'm telling the truth as per the way the question is.

Interested to see your outcome and sincerely hope this does work out for you. Technically you have not been incorrect in your answering of that all important question as you say so lets see the outcome.
Ryan and Shaun as the experts are there to offer support and advice. They have helped lots of forum members re-start their lives by getting them mortgages and by offering honest individual advice .. no two situations are the same so here's hoping you are smiling tomorrow on this .. good luck x

Bankruptcy/Debt Relief Orders/IVAs
Lending to a customer with a history of bankruptcy OR who has been the subject of a Debt Relief Order (DRO) or an Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA) can be considered provided any bankruptcy, DRO or IVA was registered more than 6 years ago from the date of submission of any mortgage application and no longer shows on the credit reference bureau information.
We are due to finish our IVA this month! Yippee!! It comes off our credit file on 4th May and I cannot wait!
By the above statement from Woolwich - I should be able to make an application to them after 4th May??...
You still need to ensure that your credit file is tidied up and that does not happen automatically.
IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.
Hi - you can but try - however I'd also suggest speaking to either Ryan or Shaun for some advice.

So the great news guys is yes you can get a low cost remortgage as mine completed today ! As Kallis says everybody has different circumstances so financial advice is a good idea and as said Ryan and Shaun will help you. But if you want to go it alone like I have make sure your credit files are clean. Make sure your title deeds are clean and then contact your preferred mortgage provider as many now do a soft credit search with no impact on your file to give you an agreement in principle. I personally went with natwest and it took three weeks from start to finish. Hope this gives people some confidence going forward.
Brilliant news!! So pleased that you managed to get sorted.
