I have just received an annual review form from my IVA company and they accidentally included correspondence related to someone else who is in an IVA - it disclosed personal details including date of birth and address. I've had issues with this IVA provider in the past and feel this breach of data protection needs more than being told to shred the letter and forget about it. What should I do?
That's not good and it has happened in the past. Speak to your IP tomorrow and tell them about this.

They have to abide by the data protection act, and I would be absolutely livid if my details were sent to someone else, so I believe that they should look into this.
Started IVA 27th Feb 2012 - Due to complete 27th Jan 2018 !!
Full & Final submitted and accepted 30th March 2015, paid 10th April 2015 - 3 yrs 1 month into IVA
Completion Certificate received- 30th April 2015!!
I wouldn't be happy but then again it's all information readily available on the internet o the insolvency register. Not happy about that either but that's a whole other story! Complain though for sure.
It's a complain to the iva company and then complain to the information commissioner if still unhappy.
All though some of the informstion is in the public domain you would need to know who to look for.
IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.
Personal details aren't though. We had paperwork for a prison officer when we were setting up our IVA but we just spoke to Payplan and sent the stuff back. I imagine he would have been gutted to know that we had his bank details.
And they wonder why people have their bank accounts cloned and identities stolen!!
